Novak Rooster on 3S LiPo?

If you look up the specs of a Rooster it shows the input voltage and 3S lipo is not even close.

I already knew it couldn't but googled Novak Rooster and had the answer in less than 5 seconds. "thumbsup"

Anyone used a 3S lipo for a Novak Rooster and 55T?

Thanks,

dont do it!

I had a goat brushless and it lasted a month on a 3 cell.
I have a rooster in the rig now and i SURE that if the goat cant take more than a 6 cell nim or a 2 cell lipo the rooster would go up in flames....
my two cents....

Put my Rooster in my sons tuber.I'm not even sure how Novak sells 1 ESC when spec wise they dont even compare to Castle or Tekin

ive got a rooster, i think it has a 2cell limit, you might check on the novak website, or read your manual paper if you have it

I know the instruction sheet specs the Rooster for a 2S LiPo. However, just as many folks out there are running 8717 servos directly off 2S LiPos unregulated, many times we can get away with things beyond the spec in the book. The warantee was void as soon as I cut the Tamiya connector off and installed a Deans Ultra (according to the little sticker on the wire harness).

Thanks for avoiding the topic and question in it's entirety. Enjoy your Castles and Tekins :?

If you've got a BEC its fine. A few Nostr guys run the Rooster on 3s no problem, but they use the bec.

I was considering using a Castle BEC, so this may still work,.

That's the kind of info I'm after...Thanks!"thumbsup"

A guy local here ran one on 3S lipo with a bec and it fried.;)

As I stated before don't do it. Yeah, maybe a few guys are getting by but it is not rated for 3S lipo, and will most likely go up in smoke at one point, so why bother.

Either run it at the intended voltage or look elsewhere for an ESC that will run at 3S happily.

I run a 800mah 3s lipo, but you have to add a maxamps 3s lipo cutoff because three rooster only has a 6v cutoff. I 've been running this since nov. every weekend with no problem.

Heh, this is reminding me of the 4.8V vs 6.0V debates with servos back in the day.

So, it's obviously a "use at your own risk" thing. I think I'll just stick with 2S for now. I just have a few 3S packs for 450 EP helicopters that I was hoping to put to better use on the Scorp.

The flip side is, I have this Rooster as is, now. I could run it on 3S, and if it blows someday, then I'll get a "proper" 3S ESC. It's not like this thing is going to fall out of the sky or anything :D

Thanks all for the replies.
