old gearbox vs new gearbox

Gents,

As I wait for a backorder, I see that the RTR has the older style gearbox (no transfer case). I assume the new gearbox that comes with the kit permits 2-speed.

Is that the only advantage/purpose of the newer gearbox? To allow for a 2-speed setup? What if I don't care or have no intentions of running a 2-speed setup?

The 2-speed will be an option in the future, but yes, the tranny is ready for it.
