I know I saw an advertisment someplace for old skool motorcycle kits... I'm talking 1920 style bikes... anyone happen to know any info??

Kikker 5150 kits? If you get a chance check out Blue Collar Bobbers also. They make some killer parts to turn metric bikes into bobbers for under $1k and they look killer!

The kikker's are the right style... the ones I'm thinking of were a little large motors so they could be street legal. kikker does have some nice looking bikes, could prolly put a little bigger motor in and register as a scooter.

Edit: they do have a 200cc and a 250 vtwin, betting those could be made street legal.

The Kikker can be street legal I know. My brother has one with a tag and insurance. Here 49cc and over makes it a motorcycle, under 49cc and you dont need a tag or ins, makes it a scooter. He has the biggest motor they offered on his. And it is fast for what it is! The frames are a little small but can be streched. And yes you can put Yamaha and Honda motors on them as well.

Look up XS650Chopper.com they have the sickest metric bobbers you will ever see on that site! You can build a Yamaha into a nasty bobber for about $3k! Ive been helping a friend with his for a few months now.

Glad you're in KY.I have the same daily search on CL.

I already got a few things lined up to check out a couple bikes around some local junkyards. Also called up Ardcore Choppers about one of their Flying W frames. I've got an old Honda CB650 rolling chassis to swap along with some cash to boot for a XS650 at one of the local yards. Don't really care a whole lot about the chassis, just wanting an engine, wheels and fork in decent shape. If I can get ahold of at least an engine here soon, I should be able to stick some new gaskets, clean the carbs, and black it all out pretty quickly. I guess the biggest cost will be ponying up the moolah for a custom frame, although if I do happen upon a XS650 that has a decent condition stock frame then I may just run it for awhile. Maybe stick on some different bars and bob the rear until I get the time and money for a custom frame. The bobber frames at Ardcore run around $900 plus $125 shipping in case anyone was wondering.

They're a dime a dozen in this neck of the woods. I have two in my garage collection dust. Gave 400 for the pair and one only had 2k miles.

I tried craigslist for something obvious but most of the XS650s around here have already been chopped or bobbed, and very badly I might add. But, I managed to get some info on a few junkyards that have a couple 650s in decent shape. Only problem with that is they're kind of a bitch to get the title all straightened out.

Got a 78' XS650 sittin in my back yard (covered) I put 25k miles on one summer, had enough parts to make 3 bikes out of but my old man threw my parts away on me.
Looks like I found a new life for the one I have left though.

Right now I'm hoping to find a good deal on a runner.Figured I could ride it stock this summer and have a winter project.Unfortunately, now's not the best time to find a good price.May have to wait until the end of summer.

Most of the runners I've found around here (advertised anyways) are around the $500-900 mark. Ideally I'd like to find one around $500 or lower, so who knows, maybe I'll find one tucked away somewhere. I've got a few buddies looking around for me as well, so I guess we'll see soon what comes of it.

Around here,$500 won't get you much.Alot of people have caught on and seem to think they are gold.Missed out on a '71 for $850 ealrlier today. It went REAL quick.

Yeah, I'm hoping through some personal networks I might find one tucked away in a garage and the owner just wanting to get rid of it, that's basically how I found my last bike (Honda CB650). If you ask around and wait long enough, one will pop up.
