Onboard air compressors

I'm wanting to run an on-board air setup on my WJ. I know that ARB has a double compressor setup, but I'm looking for something larger that I can mount somewhere in the trunk. What do y'all here recommend? I would be using it mostly for airing up and for running air tools. First hand experience is always the best form of advice!

I ran dual Viair 480 c compressors in mine , ran at 200 psi and could fill up a 37 mud grappler from trail to street psi in about a minute. I could run air tools in short burst.

York 210 compressor--only way to go.

Been running one on my toy for 8-9 years now..

I want to do this but don't understand how you get the compressor to cycle off?
Do you have to fit some sort of pressure switch on the tank and wire it through
the power to the compressors or do your compressors do this buy themselves?

Pressure switch will control the on/off cycle pressure.

I wired my onboard compressor through a relay using the hobbs switch to trigger the relay. I'd rather a cheap, universal relay take the beating of high current switching than the expensive, harder-to-find hobbs switch.

I only have a Firestone air compressor setup for the airbags on my truck along with acting as an ATV tire airing station. Low flow and high pressure. Not ideal for much beyond small tire air and airbags.

Since I use mine for my arb's I used an arb pressure switch to control/regulate the pressure..

For dedicated usage you simply can't beat a York 210 mounted to the engine.

I run a 175 cu ft aluminum CO2 tank on my welder through a high flow regulator. When we go camping I take it to fill the air mattress and when we go to the autocross track it goes to run the air gun for tire changes. :D

how do you like it? ive been thinking of getting one over a compressor since i dont have air lockers, dont run air tools, and only run 31s.

Love it. Have the 10lb bottle I believe. Use it only for mobile purposes and tires. I love being able to carry it around the house for trim work and not having to listen to the compressor. Great for fridge coil cleaning. AirGas is nearby so fills are easy. I filled it last in January. With it and a tire patch kit you never have a flat...unless you gash a tire. I keep the shop compressor charged at all times for daily use.
