Paint on the outside

What I do when painting the outside is first paint the inside a base color with lexan paint.. Primer type grey or redish... Then use the same lexan paint on the outside of the body... Once you have the lexan paint on the outside you can take your regular paint of any color and paint over the lexan paint.. Then if you get scratches you will see the base color on the inside of the body which will give it a bit of realism.. and of cource its not hard to always touch it up when its painted on the outside!

Ive painted several lexan bodies on the outside. It works great. Just be sure to prep well first. Ill take some picks of my proline jeep that I painted on the outside and post them on here. I decided to change the color to the bronze that is on the new 350z after I had already painted the inside, so I gave it a try and it worked awesome. Granted I work at a car dealership, so I have access to a bodyshop with paintbooths and a good compressor setup. Ill post pics tomorrow for ya. btw I used automotive paint with flex agent added, not special lexan paint.

Got it done today and I must say it looks just like I wanted to.

First I sprayed the inside with Tamiya red brown.

I used my heat gun and hobby knife handle to push some dents into the lexan. No real wheeling rig has a clean dent free body.

I then sprayed Pactra sprint white and covered it with outlaw black.

I then painted the body Pactra chazoom Teal. After it was dry I went crazy with a scotch brite pad and dremel wire wheel.

Really liked the older late 60's early 70's grill better so I had one made. I can't have the same stuff as everyone else.

I'm telling you, it may be worth it to drive to IL to have both of our C10's in a photo shoot.
