Im just wondering why everybody always says to add 3% for fees when paying for something with paypal? I havnt ever been charged fees unless it was being paid for using a credit card thru paypl. I just dont understand the reasons for it. i sold something for $550 a couple weeks ago and got the $550. and Ive always sent the amount that it says the other person wants and thats how much they get. are the fees only for certain people or purchases or something?

You must be the odd man out. The first time I accepted a payment on Paypal I had to upgrade my account before I could accept it. Ever since I've been charged a percentage for recieving money.

ive only been charged once. it was something for $90 and i got $87 something instead. but thats the only time. ive never been charged for sending or recieving other than that time.

If you have the base Paypal account, you will never see a % taken out as a fee from Paypal for an incoming payment. Once you upgrade to the premier or business account, EVERY incoming transaction is charged a fee from Paypal.

We don't (and many other vendors here as well) charge customers the additional money to cover that expense, it's simply part of using the convenience of Paypal.

It's actually a rules violation on Ebay to state that as part of your auction...

The first time I sold somthing on Ebay Paypal said I had to upgrade to premier to accept the money. I think maybe unless it was an e-check, then I didnt have to.

Some times though if a seller has been really nice or giving me a great deal I'll throw in a couple extra bucks to cover Paypal fee's.

ok well i was just wondering cuz that was th only time i ever got charged. im not complaining at all, i have always just wondered why everybody asked for the fees.

because the people are morons and dont have a clue about real life and business, 3% is cheap for accepting credit cards and online payments. If they feel the 3% is a rip off then they need to calculate it into the asking price first.

If they think 3% is a lot,i invite them to come to my country were our bussiness get charged a whopping 6% for c.c. processing fees:shock:

That must have recently changed then, because every incoming transaction I've had for the last 2 years has had the fee taken out immediately.
And I agree with rockwerks. I gave up telling people about the rules. And it's every Paypal transaction in the US (and probably other country's too), not just eBay.

You don't get charged it right off the bat, but if you transfer the money out of your PP account back into your bank account then you WILL be charged the percentage.

see i dont agree with this either because when i transferred the $550 from paypal to my bank account i didnt get charged anything. i dont know i was just curious, im not complaining or anything i was just wondering because i keep seeing people put it in their forsale ads.

If you aren't set up to take credit cards (i.e.;, you don't have a premier of business account), you won't get charged anything.

"thumbsup"Thanks for that, now I know what the benefit of a premier account is since paypal is going to charge a fee for every transaction.

.

with the basic paypal account as far as i remember you can only transfer $350.00 every 30 days into your bank account

i have a premiere account and i get charged 3.50 out of every 100.00

no idea how anyone else is only getting charged 3%

i also get hit a 35 cent transaction fee on every payment i receive

if the clowns asking for the 3% took the time to read the paypal's user agreement

they would find out there breaking the rules and user agreements with paypal

and if there caught from a buyer complaining about it there account will be locked and eventually canceled

most of the time with cash locked in there account

with a premiere or business account your address is also confirmed

and you can transfer unlimited funds at any time

most basic paypal accounts users dont have a confirmed address

with out a confirmed address paypal will side with the buyer if they file a claim saying they didnt receive what they bought

and return there payment

i wont ship to an unconfirmed address to many scammers abuse this loop hole with paypal

They really must not like you. My fees for receiving domestic payments are always 2.9% + $0.30. It even says in their fee schedule that it's 2.9% for domestic transactions as a maximum.
