its would be for 2.2 comp size rigs and scalers maybe a little bigger then those"thumbsup" I have $200 or so to spend on the lighting and other stuff needed. space isnt a problem!!

1. tripod (very useful, but not required if light source is strong enough)
2. two fill lights (could be a shop work lights)
4. backdrop (large piece of paper from craft store or white cotton sheet)

You can use PVC piping to create a frame to hang the backdrop from.

I shoot everything on my shop bench with the following:

Large white towel draped off the foundation lip
Olympus point and shoot
Tripod for stability when using Macro or Super Macro
Suspended fluorecent lighting

Low buck...clean snaps "thumbsup"

for the most natural light i suggest droping my a local hydroponics shop and look for voc agro florecent bulbs in the 110-125 range. can get a little expensive though

I picked up 3 2'x3' sheets of white foamcore board at Staples and used them as the two sides and back of my lightbox. I used masking tape on the corners where they meet to create hinges so they fold right up into themselves flat. Then I just bought a piece of pure white cotton linen from a fabric store for the base. I put the fabric on the table, then unfold the foamcore and set it on top of the fabric.

Whats nice about the foamcore is that is has some structure to it which lets me use a bar to span across the top of the two side pieces and can use the bar to position lights anywhere I want along it to saturate the lightbox from above.

I use 5500k CFL bulbs for all my lights and just make sure my cameras color temp is set to the same.

You can also buy the large sheets of posterboard from the office supply stores to use as flexible backdrop. I bought a bunch of different colors. Sometimes all white is not the best color to photograph against...like when you want to photograph something very light colored, or white.

Bumping this up. Looking to go rather large this time around. I've ordered some 4x8' sheets of white styrene. Looking for suggestions from the semi-pros on cheap but effective lamps etc...

I use desk lamps with "day light" 5000*k CFL bulbs, shine them through muslin cloth to defuse the light.
