photobucket what happend

Which image hosts have you guys moved to?

Flickr was good, but they are going pro. Imgur doesn't seem to allow anything other than full-size embedding which makes for huge photos on here which is a no go. imgbb is what I'm using now and it is OK, but you either get thumbnails, "medium" which is actually small or full-size embedding and that's it.

I use Tapatalk if you haven't tried them.

I've used Tapatalk, direct forum upload, Google Photos, and even a few direct Facebook links. Tapatalk and forum upload are my favorites though.

Google Photos can give wonky sizes, and Facebook linking means having the photos on Facebook, and I have no idea how reliable it is. I've used it a few times, and haven't seen anyone complain about a broken link, but also have not gone back and checked on it....

Imgur's app and mobile site both suck for anything more than uploading. The desktop site is the only version worth using.

You have to use the desktop site for the resizing option. I use large thumbnail for all my pics.

Really, all it does is stick a l (lowercase L) in front of the .jpg in the image tag so you could resize after pasting in the tag if you really want.

That's so easy to do once you realize the option is there. I updated my Rock Rey thread with larger photos thanks to you. Thanks again! "thumbsup"

I just post pics from the Tapatalk app, haven't had any issues this way.

Nope, I haven't tried using photos with Tapatalk. Do you mean upload them through the app?

Yep right from the app very easy, right below where you type is a box to click and upload pics directly from your phone.

Yes.

Thanks. I've seen it, but I don't trust Tapatalk to not highjack my photos either. I mean they are the company which I gave money to in order to get the "Pro" version of the app only for them to discontinue it and then offer Tapatalk free to everybody. :ror:

I doubt they do that but I don't have any photos on my phone worth hijacking lol

Still at photobucket - with my $30/yr plan that got grandfathered in. I think they offer a pretty good deal now after all the dust settled, like $10 a month or something. Yeah, I don't like them either, but have thousands of pics there already so loathing to change.

The only problem I have now is they used to have a setting to size your images on upload but that seems to have quit working, so I have to reset everything in photoshop before uploading. Fortunately I'm at my desk most of the time with all my graphics programs at hand so it's not that big of deal. Now you know why I post pics on Monday mornings. ;-)

I just meant pull a Photobucket or Flickr and tell you they are suddenly going to pay to host your photos.
Oh I see what you're saying, didn't think about that, I don't know if they actually have the photo though, I'm under the impression it just uploads to the forum but who knows I'll do it this way til they screw it up for us lol

$120 a year to host photos is insane to me. That's about half of my motorcycle insurance for the year.

You have to pay to be a member here to upload photos which is what makes me thing Tapatalk actually hosts the images.

I'm a $20 subscriber to Rcc so maybe that's why, not sure how it works lol

I think Photobucket has a $70 or a $90 annual plan - can't recall. Surely better than the $500 they threw out on everybody when it all went down. I couldn't believe it. People were PISSED. Lot's of e-bay'rs, and lots of missing images from forums all over the interwebs. Some wanted them dead.
Worse, you couldn't download your folders - just one image at a time. Some got completely locked out from their image files.

If you look at the image link code, its definitely stored/hosted by tapatalk's servers

This why I won't go back to photobucket no matter how cheap they make the plan. If they pulled this crap once, it quite possible they could try it again in the future...

I have the same deal Chris! Was a paying member when they did there change over, it they do a auto deduction once a year and have hade no problems. I think I started paying way back when to get rid of all the advertising we had to put up with in the free program. We must be one of the lucky ones!"thumbsup"

I consider myself extremely lucky in all of this - has been painless while everybody on the free deal was crying.

Lucky, or just incredible foresight. :lmao:

Now I better go check my account....

EDIT: I see now their 25gb plan is $50 a year. I can deal.
EDIT2 - I'm still on the 'plus 20' which is 20gb for $29 annually. Grandfather'd I guess. "thumbsup"

I stop using photobucket after the insane prices they asked for to host images for forums. Maybe I should recheck their plan fees again. I started using tappatalk works very well and easy. I had a great free ride with photobucket for yrs. Also had/have a ton of photo on PB.
Although I'm glad PB had a change in heart and restored all the fourm photos.. thank you photo bucket."thumbsup"
