Please help me avoid Ebay scam

I think it might be a scam.

Anyhow. My brother won this auction and paid using paypal.

He tried contacting the seller about when the truck would be shipped but no reply. Then yesterday or today he got this reply.

"hey sorry i took so long to respond but i havent received anything in the mail yet, as soon as i do ill send you a message and tracking number for ur reference."

My brother replied back stating he paid using paypal and that he had a receipt. He then got shipping informantion on a package. Problem is, that package weighs 3lbs according to the date on UPS. The truck should weigh over 10lbs without packaging.....

I have him trying to contact paypal and ebay about the situation. What should be done? He emailed back asking why the package only weighs 3lbs. We'll see what the reply is. I know I have read on this site about paypal not refunding if he accepts the package. That is why I'm trying to research.

Any and ALL advice would be greatly appreciated!

All you can do really now is wait to see if the package comes and if it's not what you thought it was, file a compliant with Paypal and the Police Department.

The guy has 100% pos feedback and it has only been 3 days, everything is gonna be fine. Paypal sends me bogus shipping info all the time. Good luck, but be patient.

Maybe they used paypal to print the shipping lable and lied about the weight to save money.

Be sure to track the package if you have a number. Is is USPS or UPS? If its UPS I would immediately refuse it when the delivery guy shows up. They should be able to give you some kinda ticket for it. File complaints with paypal & eBay for suspicion. Just be sure to keep in contact with all 3(paypal, ebay & seller).

I noticed that to, but his 100% is only as a buyer, he has none as a seller, hope it turns out good for you 2JSC, also $5.00 shipping for a large trucks seems to cheap, or maybe your bro got a heck of a deal, you just have to wait.

Dont put much weight (pun intended) on what shipping weights say....I cant count how many times it has said a 20# item weighed 3#'s....beforeyou think there is a problem wait for it to come in...
