Hey all,

Let me see some of your past crawlers that you have built. I remember a couple years ago when I first got into crawling and what I thought was a cool crawler lol. They have come along ways today. Talking in the wheels and tires section has sparked my interest. Althought there are alot of bolt ons these days, with the exception of the VF dig and wheels/tire, I still built what can from hand... So lets see some sweet pics"thumbsup" Ill go first...

This was literally my first build and man it was a piecer. I cut and clued hpi wheels in the stock clod wheels and they didn't last long. It was as matter of a week before I tore it apart and put it together into a much better 2.2.

This is v2 of the same truck and it under went alot of changes.

It eventually became this and was probably the most fun crawler I have had... Although it wasn't as capable as mine today, it was a blast to drive

First attempt at a shaftie and it was a failed one too and eventually became a BMVII

The old super. It was a tortion stick chassi like the 2.2 clod was. Worked pretty well.

It's amazing how much our crawlers have evolved

off topic....that's a nice C-10,what is it, an early 71 model?

yeah,the 6 lug is what made me think possibly an early 71. I have a 72 GMC K-15,and I have a 71 C-10 parts truck.

Yeah also if there was a shot of it from the front you would see the 2 holes on the tip of the hood from the old emblum they put on the hood in 69/70. The 71/72's it was in the grill

My first attempt back in 2002 was a 2.2 Clod with a 1/2" square steel frame, chassis mounted steering, and a panhard bar front suspension.

It then evolved into The Duke in 2004 when I found RCC. 2.2's were not popular at the time so it got Savage tires, coil spring suspension, and cantilever shocks. At one point it had a manual operated front dig system. I also put in a 1/4" brakeline rollcage.

Then it evolved into The SuperDuke with a Team NFA aluminum frame and 4WS. The cantilevers were dropped and later the IMEX Jumbo Maxx Swap Dawg Tires went on.

Then into The Duke 2.2 as he came full circle and went back to 2.2's but was comp ready this time. This version left the coils in the rear but coilovers went on the front. I also had a winch that could be used to suck down the front suspension. First build was with the familiar blue/white Bronc body, then with the purple/yellow TJ body.

First crawler:

All my dimensions were off, it was way too leggy and didn't perform very well.

Stick-E: Which I still want to get a good set of tires and narrow it a little:

K9popo, What wheels are those in the first picture. Thats more like what I want.

Those would be DL CUSTOMS.....There weren't many made and only 2 sets in silver"thumbsup"...Keep your eye out and you might find some 4 sale...

I know it was only an ol' NewBright but at least it got me started in this hobby!! We all gotta start somewhere, right??

Thanks for not laughing :ror::ror:

Thanks to this site, I was able to move well beyond my first crawler . . .

Thank you for the info, I just wish he was still making them. I'll just have to keep my eyes out in the for sale section.

Hey Sean I'm looking at those tires and you did a pretty good job of wearing them down to nothing looks like that rig got used. "thumbsup"

Actually . . .

I just hacked them up with a razorblade knife and a sanding drum on the dremel ;-)

I did swap out the motors but they were still too weak to do any real crawlin'. That's why, after a few months of fighting with it, I went to the WK!
