The powerstroke can and will amaze you... My old boss had a few for his landscaping business. I saw that truck do things I never thought a pickup could ever do. He had a stuck bobcat 730 I beleive it was, the thing wouldnt go out of gear and had stopped in a mud hole out back of one of the buildings. The 2003 ford powerstroke pulled the thing with the wheels skidding 20 ft out of the mudd hole. Anyone who has been around equipment before knows how heavy those are....
That truck may just be a factory miracle or somthing, but man does it pull, I cant beleive it.

you forgot one, DURAMAX!!! The new Duramaxes to come out are supposed to have 200more HP than the current ones, compete with that silly ford and dodge!!! We used one for Transporting cars, we put 400.xxx plus miles on this thing, no problems what so ever, just the usual maintenence work. Changing oil, filters, that sorta thing, we always pulled 3-4 cars a time. Unfortunitally we got rid of it because we stopped hauling cars and just towed cars. On the truck we had a hide-away wheel lift, steel bed, headache rack, pto, thats all that wasnt stock, this thing was good for night time repos...

As for the Duramax, I see the guys in Chevys on the way to work and back every day in suites and ties, while the Ford and Dodge guys are towing Bobcats etc, I'll still take the Power Stroke with a Banks.

screw the chevy, they havnt had a chance in forever. Look around, you will see 10 fords for every dodge, and 10 dodges for every chevy you see, as far as a work truck goes. That is just what I see around the midwest.8)

Lets see some facts, not opinions, FACTS!!! Prove the Powerstroke is better than the Cummins, or Duramax Better Than Cummins or Powerstroke. Yes I lean towards the Duramax Because we use them and just fly past all the Dodge and Fords Going uphill just using the cruise control, yes, the Duramax just using the pedal will get you nowhere, but, just put the cruise control to adjust your speed and you will fly past the rest at a steady 80 fully loaded. Chevrolet is steadily improving on their Duramax and increasing the power by +-200hp and same torque, i dont see Ford or Dodge doing major improvements like that. Lets see some FACTS!!! Also, the most impressive Deisel we have owned are our 2 new International Roll Back wreckers. These things have 600,000+ miles and still run very, very strong.

my dads truck stock pulled a 30 thousand pound trojan from illiinois all the way to virginia with no problems and now the truck has around 780 horses over 1000ft.lb of tourqe dodge is best hands down...

We had a Ford F-350 we towed and are fixing right now. It was a roll over wreck, not too bad, but pretty bad, we started it up, and the throtttle just took off over revving and stuff, and well, it was like 20 smoke nades went off in our shop, we are lucky the damn crank didnt go flying thru the roof, we would still be looking for it. there was so much damn oil on the floor, the wall, everywhere, we couldnt shut the truck off, so i was running around trying to find something to stuff in the air cleaner, and there was a big wad of paper, and i was like, sh!t, this better fawking work, and sure nuff' it sucked it right up and shut down. So, ive had unpleasant experiances with Fords.

After towing a 37' 11" fifth wheel camper with a mostly stock 01 f350 with a 6 speed and the 7.3 and then towing the same camper with a stock 01 2500 dodge with a 6 speed, i will take the dodge anyday. It outpulled the ford on every hill. the ford unloaded barely kept up with the dodge, my grandpa and i drove both and would never buy a ford again. no offence, they do make ok trucks for for towing i will take dodge. The really funny part is that my 95 dakota with a 5.2 out pulled the ford. and it got better mileage.

Opinions are like assholes...everyone has one. Each brand has its own cult following and every person is gonna say their brand is better then the next.
I work for a shop that specializes in Diesel performance and each brand has its pros and cons.....
Dodges automatic trannies are kinda crappy but the handshakers are great. Cant beat the cummins its been around forever....
The ford 7.3 is a great motor as well and can take a real thrashing too. The 6.0 is so-so...too many issues but once the turbo spools up it hauls ***.....rumor mill is that the 07 dutys are gonna be twin turbo'd....who knows..... and the ford is still a solid front axle with the 4 link setup......
Chevy has a nice interior but its smaler then a ford. the New LBZ motor is rated at around 280hp..i think. the allison is durable but the chevy IFS rides nice but sucks if you actually use your truck....
Im a chevy guy..have an 04 LLY crew cab shortbed with a few little addons and it will hold its own against some of the 90's domestics....

Ive worked for several dealerrships.......I think the funniest thing IVe seen recently is a Phoenix Ford dealership that had a load of 3 ford conversion vans on an alumalite ramp trailer and the truck hauling this setup

My least favorite part about the cummins is the noise. Both my neighbors have one and there louder then a space shuttle. Also every time there shut off the belt squeels. We have an '02 f 350 crew cab long bed dually. The first night my dad got it he lit up all four back tires like none other. If i remember right duramax is made by isuzu. Nothing against them but isuzu? Yes one dodge might out pull one ford. But i highly doubt that a dakota could out pull even one of the first 7.3's without a turbo. Also all thats being factored in here is motors. Gearing also plays a big role in towing and gas mileage. We pulled our 32 foot 10'6 foot beam bayliner over 300 miles up and down hills the funny part is that my dads friend was pulling our 21 foot all aluminum river runner and couldnt keep up with us. His friend was driving like a 99 dodge ram with a 360 in it and couldnt keep up.

With good power comes good noise, just like a race car. More noise=more power.;-) They are actually pretty quiet inside, I don't care how loud it is ouside I drive it from the inside.:lol: I think the belt squeel is a 24v thing, my 12v has never done that.plyr2k said:

engine aside we need to look at the durability of the truck as a whole. that being said i havent much exp. with chevy but dodge and ford, the towing company i sub for has had 2 dodge trucks converted with vulcan beds both trucks had broken (not cracked or bent) sheared frame rails one just infront of the rear axel and the other near the motor mount as for the ford there all f550's and other than replacing brakes and clutches they havent had a single prob. also ive heard the the powerstroke is the only truck with a factory exhaust brake, and ford and chevy have vairiable pitch turbos to help keep them spooled up and cut turbo lag
