So I did a typo...your perfect too Mr. kow....What the **** is kow if you dont' know?

Ok i also did a typo but ive seen cummings written many times in this thread. Nothing personaly against you but it gets annoying someone that has no idea that a cummins is a 6 cylinder comes in this thread and talks like they know everything. Im not saying i know everything either. Its just people that have no idea whats being talked about come in here and vote for dodge just because they like the viper. Or ford just because they make mustang. Thats irrelivent (sp) and has nothing to do with their deisels.

Since I was quoted, that typically means your directing your comments to that person(me).
None the less, I see your point and I do know the difference.
FYI: I have to deal with this topic every day!!

I think the time and effort you spend capitalizing every word would be put to better use if you used a spell check...

If we take into acount the durability factor it is the Cummins, hands down. I worked in the medium duty truck dealership here for a while and had the opportunity to work on everything from 3/4 ton up to garbage trucks.

Understand that the Cummins is first and foremost a medium duty engine that was shoehorned into a light duty truck (yes a 1-ton is still classed as a light duty). The 6B can be found in agricultural equipment, straight trucks, garbage trucks, school buses and nice sized RV's. Anyone who has torn into one knows that they are stout. The crankshaft alone is heavy enough to blow your a-hole out trying to lift it. It is STOUT. The factory support for upgrades is outstanding also. Things like bottom end girdles and adapters to bolt to a variety of transmissions (anyone remember the Cummins repower program?) can be found in the parts books. They are also the easiest to work on.

You can crank up any diesel engine to get massive gains but the Cummins will live alot longer at higher output levels than the Powerstroke or the Duramax. The engine itself is just substantial. If I remember right the dry weight on a 6B is in the area of 900 pounds The good thing with the other engines is they do run smoother and are a bit more quiet than the Cummins.

We had quite a few problems with the Duramax. They are not very service friendly, anyone who has done a full service on one can tell you what a nightmare getting to the fuel filter is, and God help you if you lose the prime on one. Don't even think about using starting fluid. I would rather staple my nuts to a fast moving train than work on one of these. It just seems like they nickel and dime you to death. With big nickels, and really big dimes.

The others may be easy , But the max is not ''hard''. Can change mine out in like 5min, Now the first gen of max's had fawcked up inj location. had to pull the whole head to replace one.

They are all good trucks that will work and pull heavy loads. I bought a Dodge for the Cummins. It's a tried and true design thats been around for decades. The Powerstroke and Doodoomaxx were designed for this new line of light duty pullers on the roads now. Take all three engines apart and com pair the internals. EVERYTHING in the Cummins dwarfs the other two. In my opinion that equals strength and durability.

My uncle is,and has been for 30 years, a GM mechanic and DIE HARD Chevy man. His worktruck...........Cummins powered Dodge. He's had to work on way to many Doodoomaxxes. He said everything is higher than hell for them and they are a pain to work on.

My brother is also a bricklayer by trade and my dad is a farmer. They both drive Powerstrokes. Good trucks.....Yeah,they both use their trucks hard and pull heavy loads. I know all the trucks will work hard, but IMHO,the Cummins powered Dodges will beat them all when it comes down to durability.

Oh yeah,I've read a few statements about the "quiet diesel" and Dodges being to noisy. Well,my Dodge with the Banks system,4" tube,no muffler and a 5" tip is loud and I'm proud of it. You can tell from the sound that it IS a TRUCK and IT CAN work. While I'm inside with the air on sipping iced tea and eating crackers and grey pupon (sp) while pulling 10 tons of sand down the interstate,it's quiet inside the cab.

What kind of weenie grocery go getter would want a quiet diesel. Having a quiet diesel is about like have a trail rig with 33x12.50's and claiming it's "hardcore" :flipoff:
