i was sitting in my rc room this morning and started looking at all the extra parts ive got laying around. an MFM chassis (yeah i abondoned project ol skool, phucking ADD) a set of locked tlt axles, tons of traxxas links, servo mount plates, wheels tires, 3.5" shocks, losi white and gray springs, MSD ultimate wideners, two pede trannies, 2 or 3 645MG servos, etc....

so i grabbed a couple of sam adams, hit shuffle on itunes and started throwing this together... heres what i accomplished today.

specs thus far:
MFM black chassis
locked TLTs
MSD wideners
fatrock Cs
aluminum knuckles
645MG steer servo
steel revo pushrods for lower links
aluminum revo pushrods for upper rear links
steel adjustable jato turnbuckles for upper front links
traxxas 3.5" shocks
losi white springs on the front
losi grey springs on the rear
losi 80wt oil in the rear
losi 20wt oil in the front
pede front wheels
mashers with star cut foams because they were glued before memory foams got big. lol.

you are using the pede tranny right? because it seems to me that i have insane driveshaft angles with mine but im not using the vertical pede tranny mount, i made my own to keep cost down for now.

My brother and I did one with a Stealth B3 and he had to do some trimming. That's a pretty narrow chassis, but it's so easy to build. Always a hole in the right spot! The older Stealth fit a little better so the Axial will probably fit pretty well. Depending on how thick a skid you use, you may need to use some spacers to get the motor plate to clear the top of the chassis. Tough to beat a locked tranny for $38 bucks though!"thumbsup"

Nice build so far!

nope. im trying to sell a damn pede tranny to get an axial tranny. does anyone have a measurement on an ax10 transmission's width? motor plate included of course.

thanks man! im pretty stoked to get it running, this is the 4th time ive built up this same mfm chassis, i keep getting bored and abandoning projects... hell ive abandoned more rigs than ive built, 4 clods, 2 TXTs, and 2 scalers now. hahaa!

Man, and I thought my brother was ADHD!!!!!!!! Too funny man. I'm getting there as well. Lots of parts laying around with a mental picture of a finished truck in my head....

Don't have a measurement on the AX-10 tranny, but you might check the Axial site to see if they have any specs on it. I'm pretty sure that either Pinch or Kaetwo put one in one of their narrowed K2's in one of the compensator builds in the scale section. You could probably get a good idea there. I know one of the posts lists the narrowed K2 chassis width."thumbsup"

Gonna do a MFM build for my son soon. Probably going to run a Stealth in it if I can't get the WK tranny to do what I want it to. We'll see. Might need a little persuasion work with the Dremel.

frankyrizzo built an MFM rig with a WK trans in it, he made custom mounts but it looked good afterwards.

The calipers say 2.915 inches at the widest points.

4 digits, i love it!! thanks!

My brother and I did his original MFM in like a day with a Wheely King. All the stock links bolted right to the MFM and we rigged up the tranny leaning forward and then running to the rear through a Maxx steering knuckle. It worked great, but he wanted to go more scale so he re-built it with a Stealth and AX-10 axles. Came out great.

Man, that tranny will be tight, but I bet if your skid is thick enough, it will clear the frame rails. The MFM comes in at 2.75" inside the rails. My brother did a little clearance work (small notch) on the chassis on the opposite side of the motor to get a Stealth B3 to fit on top of a 5/16" thick Delrin skid. Mainly because of that goofy little bump out on the Stealth. The AX-10 tranny is cleaner. I bet it will fit fine."thumbsup"

well leftover is alive! i decided to stick with the leftover theme and make one of the stampede transmissions work. its mounted vertically which im not crazy about but it works and theres surprisingly almost no twist!

i threw an extra quark/outrunner in it with an airtronics receiver. i had to trim up the old pede to make this motor fit but its all good now."thumbsup" its not the prettiest thing ive ever built but it works.

still not sure on the body though. none of my old beater bodies really look right on it.

Nice use of leftovers, that is my specialty, I enjoy using what I have laying around to put a truck together, it takes a little more creativity to make it work usually. I think a used beater body would look just right on there, recycling is good, right:lol: and it flows with your theme"thumbsup"
