PS3 backcompatibility PS2

Do any of you know if the rumor that 2008 ps3 are not backward compatible to ps2 games like the pre 2008 ps3 ?

The only PS3's that are somewhat backwards compatible are 60GB and 80GB model, it doesn't matter when they were made.

I have the 80GB PS3, and it is compatible with most PS2 games.

one last question do the guitars from ps2 work on the ps3 ?

You will need a PS2/PS3 controller adapter.
