I have a PS3 that is just a year old. There is a disc installed in the system. Went to eject the disc and system started making a loud clicking sound, like it was trying to eject the disc. Turned off power noise stopped. Turned system back on and pressed eject button noise started again. Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks

Sounds like the disc might be stuck. Use another disc, like an old CD not a blu-ray... and slid it in and try and push the stuck one back in a little. The catch mechanism will hopefully grab and take it back in.

I had this happen once and this trick solved it. Just kind of a fluke and haven't had issues with mine since.

Warranty!

Nevermind, I just saw you said that it was a year old. Well now you can open it up and not void the warranty. If you need parts, ebay is your friend. I have fixed countless PS, PS2, XBOX, XBOX360 with parts I bought from ebay. I know there has to be a disassembly guide floating around on the internet for the PS3. Good luck!

If it is flat, turn it on it's side and try to eject it. If it is standing, lay it flat...good luck

It sounds like the ejecting mechanism thinga ma bob is either off track or it is missing the disk. Try what sacco said first if not get a hammer that always works for me.

Thanks guys for the advice. Did what 2JSC suggested. It took a few tries but the disc finialy came out. tried a different disc and it works just fine. Thanks again for your help."thumbsup"
