Questions for Gun Control Advocates

So did the mom of the sandy hook killer. Not only did she not do anything about it she had a arsenal of weapons for him to play with.

And as far as see something say something goes I believe people are afraid of being label a racist or getting sued. Goes back to all the PC bullshit.

If there is a legitimate claim, like the mother, that should well enough be probable cause for the evaluation & search. The mother knew her son had problems.

The police cannot do anything unless they believe there is probable cause when they make contact with the suspect. That is the 4th Amendment. They can't simply take someones word for it, otherwise they'd be busting down the door of anyone and everyone that had a finger pointed at them, including completely innocent people. Kinda like that "SWATting" fad we had this summer.

Not only did she not do anything, she allowed him access to a fair amount of her guns. I believe he had some of his own as well, not sure though. Either way, he had more than enough of a history of mental illness to prevent him from owning or being around guns of any type. IMO what he did rested squarely on her shoulders.

Very true, it would have to be a case by case basis. I would imagine the cops looked at the kids videos, since they were the cause for the call in the first place. If the Sheriff didn't look, then that's just lazy & very well is the difference between those people killed & injured to not being another statistic.

I just had a thought (pretty rare, I know). Take a look at the percentage of people that die from guns, then take a look at how much money is spent on gun control. Now take a look at the same percentage and dollar amounts for cancer and it's treatment. Seems to me that a LOT of money is being thrown at a problem that really doesn't even exist.

Apples to oranges.

Personally I don't think people should be able to buy guns online and via an online bg check have them sent to your door. I have no problem having something shipped to my local ffl and doing the paperwork there. Sure the $30 transfer fee does kind of suck but they should be compensated for their time as well.

So as far as private sales go, there should be a way for the private sector to conduct a background check during a private sale. Here in Washington it is law that any transfer of a firearm be done through an ffl and it has been revised for hunting and relatives plus certain situations.

To make this law more effective then John Q. Public should be able to call the Feds and do this themselves without having to conform to an ffl's business schedule. It makes it easier to do private business.

Another issue I have is with the 80% kits. If you're going to manufacture a part into a firearm then it should also have some type of regulation on it. Here in my state it is perfectly legal to manufacture your own firearm as long as it is built by you and for you as long as you are legally able to own a weapon.
The problem I have with them is there is nothing in between a criminal or someone intending to do harm from buying 50+ 80% lowers at a discounted rate then finishing and selling them black market.

I will also state that there needs to be harsher punishments on criminals. As well as better education on our youth about the repercussions of poor decision making. Essentially bringing back common sense, since that doesn't seem to exist anymore.
