Curtis, awesome pics, but not as good as your driving has become since you started piloting a XR-10ALICIOUS!

R.E.C.O.N. Crawlers finished up the 2010/2011 Rubber-2-Rock Winter Series at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Pyramid Lake, Nevada. The location for the finals was Warrior Point and it could not have been a more fitting place, especially since this was also the West Coast Qualifier.

The event started Friday night with several of us camping out at the lake. Sumquack, J-Rock, Finishline, Donz12 & son, and of course the scoring extraordinaire Spucknit. The overnight low was 29 and we got snow on for about 15 mins as we traded stories around the campfire. Then Don brought out one of the sickest scalers that I’ve seen and then blinded me with Chino’s new LED light bar. Chino has captured the sun and is sending scalers out into the night where they will fear no G6 Stage!

The comp got underway and everyone was a little apprehensive because this is a RECON Finals and everyone knows that I turn up the heat for the finals. After all precautionary measures were taken and the course formats laid out, drivers put the last r/c rubber to rock in the winter series.

There were several 2.2 Pros that have been on fire as of late, Brian Lorenz has won back to back RECON Comps and Jeremy Keyes is a man on a mission, but Team Lurk was in the house (no pun intended) and J-Rock can crawl with the best in the west. Donz12 is no grapefruit and Finishline, the name says it all, legend.

NCVRCC was represented by ABADK9420 and BIG JOE DUCKSLAYER. Curtis piloted his XR-10alicious to a top 10 finish and earning himself an invite to the 2011 A.W.C.C.

Reigning Nevada State 2.2 Sport Champion reassured every sport driver at the Finals that he is the sport driver to beat at the 2011 Axial West Coast Championships. Nick will be piloting a XR-10 and he is going to be my odds on favorite to win, but he better watch out for young Taylor Dooley. This girl is a future sport class champion and her Dad, Mike, has 1:1 skills that show in his on course driving. He pulled out a perfect run on course 5 with his front servo velcro’d onto the axle, but he drives a XR-10 to win and it did not fail him.

Results and Overall results are on the way, along with who won the rookie of the year award.

Thank you Mark A, George Z., Brian L., and Marshal P. all from the BYB and all dedicated RECON members who stepped up and judged along side fellow RECON members Spucknit, DRIVNMF, Chasinbaja, Unibomber, and Arcain41.

Thank you all for coming out and comping at one of the most spiritual comp spots that I know of. I had a blast and look forward to seeing ya’ll at the 2011 AWCC.
