I am having an on going issue with my trx4 tactical. Everything works as it should, drives fine etc. EXCEPT, every now and then, and usually after I've been driving it for 30mins or more, it just goes into full speed reverse for no reason and takes off backwards! I'll be crawling and boom... it just reverses away at full speed. I have no idea what causes it to do this and i have no idea how to fix it.
Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like it may be an incorrectly setup fail safe or something is glitching. Which transmitter are you using? I’d try to re-bind it to the receiver to start. Also see if it has a fail safe feature.

The stock TQi radio does have a failsafe, but it’s not adjustable.

I’d still recommend re-binding your transmitter to the receiver. After that, recalibrate your ESC. Others I’m out of ideas.

If neither of those things work and if nobody on here can help fix it, call or email Traxxas. They have great customer support.

Maybe you got it wet?
The XL5 has separate voltages on the three coolers, and with a bit of water and dirt it may see something weird.
Usually, it thinks you're still rolling and won't reverse, but maybe your problem is similar.

I had this issue with my TRX-6 when I flipped my "neutral" switch from 50/50 to 70/30. Is it possible that you have bumped that switch into 70/30??

I know it's not the most likely culprint but sometimes it's the silly little things.

My XL5 started to get glitchy before it failed. Mine would not go I to reverse. I'd have to mess about to eventually get it going.

I think the advice above is worth a shot before replacing. Good luck.
