my first RC experience was about 10 years ago, RC planes. had a fleet of about 6 .40 size planes. since ive moved on and done it all, cars, trucks, boats, subs, helis, electric, gas, nitro, pretty much the gammit, but im wanting to get back into planks. im wanting a Edge 540 or Extra 330/300/260 gas or nitro plane. .60 size would be my prefrence. the 1.20 and especially 35% are just too big for me. i would also like to run a gas zenoah G26 if possible. i love the war birds but will save that for my second plane. the 36" ish electric 540s & 330s intreeg me as well, but the 5 minute flight times on my t-rex annoy me, so i dont think ill be going that route.
i havent been able to find what i would consider a good forum. so ive got a few questions.

1. are there any good forums for these 3d planes, (in this size)
2. what size plane would i need for the G26?
3. is the G26 powerful enough for good 3d acrobatics, would it allow me to hang it on the prop vertically?
4. if not a G26 what engine would you recomend for .60 size Edge 540? (must have smoke muffler available for it)
5. any specific kit recomendations?
6. where to buy?
7. any other tips, suggestions, advice, or links are definatly welcome and wanted ;)
Thanks

dunno

2. what size plane would i need for the G26?

there recomended for 1.20 sport

3. is the G26 powerful enough for good 3d acrobatics, would it allow me to hang it on the prop vertically?

a 26 will power a 1.20 nitro plane with good preformance but not vertical power, unless you do some work to it

4. if not a G26 what engine would you recomend for .60 size Edge 540? (must have smoke muffler available for it)

Saito .82 4 stroke"thumbsup"

5. any specific kit recomendations?

there are lots of really nice 3d kits out there now a days

6. where to buy?

tower, or horizon hobby

7. any other tips, suggestions, advice, or links are definatly welcome and wanted ;)
Thanks

Check Out RCGroups. I do not fly nitro, but I do fly almost anything electric.
I love to scratch build some foam planes using just hot glue, and fanfold foam boards.

Happy searching

Check out flying cirkus. Some great info on 3D flying including the 3D University!

Some projects I worked on.

1. RCUniverse and RC Groups are the big two. http://www.teamflyingcirkus.com/ and http://flyinggiants.com/ are two more.

2. Depends. Do you want to sport fly or 3D? The weight of the airframe will limit you. The heavier the airframe the less aerobatics you'll do with a G26.

3. Put the G26 on a light plane like the FuntanaX 100 you'll have a blast. Locals are running the G20 on a X100 and loving it. The answer to this one is tied to the answer to #2.

4. Saito 125....4-stroke "thumbsup"

5. By "kit" do you mean "kit" as in "lumber yard in a box" or ARF?

6. Depends on what you want.

7. Research...

1 ok ill check out the big two. all the others ive found have so few members/posts

2 3D, what size frame would i need? we fully mod our G26, port polish, lighten piston crank, raise timing etc. HP wont be a problem, but i think they are still heavier?

3 so a G26 wont cut it for hanging/torque rolling/harrier a .60 or 1.20 size plane

4 what size is this 125 saito?, what size plane needed?

5. i mean lumber in a box. but if you know of a good arf i guess i could do that.

ug this is so confusing. :(
if i bought the .60-90 (67")edge 540 kit. what motor would you suggest for that specific size kit? (no cowl hacking, id like it fully enclosed, )

i would also toy with the 1.20-2.2 kit(77"), what motor would you suggest for that one?
