Aye guys.. so planning to get this at the end of the year. By then.. I should have all the money. But.. Is the RC Venom Creeper Competition Kit a 4wd or 2wd? I have to know this so i can know to buy one or two motors.. is this a good build for it? I'm planning to get a 550, 55t, 60A waterproof crawler motor w/ esc combo. another motor if it's 4wd of course.. now for the servo... hmm you only need one servo right?? But for the servo.. is venom creeper hi-torque metal gear servo ok for it? Any better recommended ones?? And I am planning to get the flysky fs-gt3b digital 3ch 2.4 ghz TX and RX lcd transmitter and receiver.. friend recommended it. which battery do i get? Um.. so Its a Gens ACE 40C 2S 5000mAH and there's a direct version and just approval... so I get confused on that hahah. My charger will be a Duratrax Onyx 245 or something lower priced.. really good charger but I may not be able to afford that right now ATM.
So please answer and recommend :)

It is a 4WD vehicle, as well as it has manual locking differentials. So you can have the diffs locked or unlocked but have to lock them manually with a switch located on the axle. There is an optional remote locking diff that you can control with a 3 channel rx/tx, and possibly have a remote locking diff both front and rear and use either a Y harness in the wiring and control both with one switch and a 3 channel rx/tx or wire them separate and use a 4 channel rx/tx.

Secondly it is what is called a "Shafty" vehicle. Meaning it is similiar in design to a real vehicle. It has 1 motor that mounts to a transmission or gear box, which has 2 drive lines. One to the front axle and one to the rear axle. So with just one motor you are turning both axles and thus the 4WD.

Yes you only need one servo, it will control the turning of the front tires. If you wanted a rig with 4 wheel steering you would need to get another servo, but also another front axle that has the steering parts, like the knuckles, etc.

I don't know anything about that servo so can't give any info on it.

Don't know anything about that radio either so can't give an opinion other than to say it is 2.4 ghz which is a good thing. For future expansion or capabilities I would suggest getting a radio that has a 3 position 3rd channel. Meaning it has an On-Off-On positions, so you could program it to do 3 different things depending on the wiring. So you could have a dig setup. Where off would be 4wd, toggle the switch one way and you make the rear spin free, no power to the driveline, and the other switch direction would lock the rear axle and keep it from spinning. Someone correct me if I'm wrong with that dig description I have a dual esc MOA so I'm not exactly sure on shafty dig systems. You can also do other things with a 3 pos 3rd channel besides just dig so something to think about.

Again I could be wrong with this as well, but I believe just looking at the specs of that battery it is probably going to be too large for a crawler. Just too much weight and too large to position it in a place that gives you a good center of gravity. I have 1600 mah 3s lipos and some have told me that they are even a bit too large. I have seen people run packs ranging from 800 mah - 1300 mah being the typical range I believe.

For the battery charger I would suggest the Duratrax Onyx 230. That one will let you charge nimh, nicad, and lipo as well as being powered by AC or DC. So you can hook it to your car battery for convenience on the go and have the convenience of being able to plug it into your wall at home. Which should be $30 - $40 cheaper than the one you listed. The only difference being that the one you listed is a dual charger so you can charge 2 batteries at once.

Hope all that info helps and welcome to the hobby.

if you dont know if its 4wd or 2wd you never looked.....and thus dumb ass to be getting 1

That doesn't make him a dumb ass and it doesn't necessarily mean he didn't even look at it.

He could have simply gotten confused with all the information, acronyms, and terminology that this board has. After reading and researching things can get confusing. MOA's, shafties, and worm drive axles, I'm sure there are other types as well, but just 3 off the top of my head.

Then reading the description of the rig with the diff lockers, manual or remote option, could confuse someone into maybe thinking of a MOA and thus dual motors.

Who knows, what is going through this person's head but this is the Newbie section so try to be a bit more polite.

Few things with the creepers its best to either buy the heavy duty locker assemblys for the axles or jb weld the spider gears for the diffs. I would get a 35 turn motor and a 12 tooth pinion that way you get good wheel speed and torque any other questions feel free to pm also check out the creeper section on here

Thanks guys! So one question.. or a lot xD Um so which battery is best for an rc crawler? I'm guessing 5000 mah 40c 2s lipo is too big.. and @891xmorepower.. What would a 12 tooth pinion do? Sorry I'm new.. I wouldnt know where to put that shit haha. Is 55t too big too? I don't want to break my venom the first time so.. Pretty nervous here! I found a Gens ECO 1300 mAh 2S 20C battery.. Would that be good? I'm hoping so. But.. the battery seems so small haha so I get confused. And.. I still am confused for the motor.. 35t.. is that good? well with the 12 tooth pinion of course.. i guess

Go to the main forum page then go to the electronics section. There are several stickied topics at the top of the first page. There is a section on radios, motors, batteries, esc's etc. Check out that area, specifically to start with the motors and batteries section. There is a lot of good info in there. Then in the Newbie section on the first page at the top is a stickied topic something along the lines of tips and tricks for newbies guide. Check out that list. There is a lot of good info there too, and specifically there is a section on gearing.

I'm still a bit new as well, but I can tell you that the "t" rating on a motor is how many turns the motor has, which tells you how fast the motor will make your vehicle move vs how much torque the motor has. The lower the t rating the faster the motor is but has lower torque at lower RPM's. A 35t or 45t is a good motor that sits right in the middle and gives you good speed and torque. The pinion effects the same thing the bigger the pinion the faster the wheel speed.

I don't know that battery specifically but it has specs that are more in line with crawling.

The pinion gear is the gear that attaches to the end of the rod coming out of the motor, which is the gear that starts turning the transmission gears.
