RcBros Berg Build

Got some parts back from the machinist. I had all the original weigths written down, but seem to have lost the paper I had them on. If anyone has the weight of a DH and the gear please let me know.

I cut the rim down to 3/4" to achieve more clearance up front and make the rovers alittle taller. I acheived both and also lost some more weight while I was at it.

And now the gear, I've seen alot of people drilling the gears out, but I was curious how much weight I could shave off by milling the gears out. I just did this gear for both the front and rear axles to see if strength may be an issue, which I doubt, but we'll see. The milled gear came out to 5 grams.

Looking great William.
If those diff lockers do get beat up, make a set from 7075.
IRRC, it's twice the strength of 6061T6 and half the strength of Ti4al.

Ultimately the 7075 will probably be the final product, however with running the 6061, if there is a weak point, we can look at adding strength to to the weak area(s) during the second batch of 7075's.

The testers I have chosen have there sets in the mail and should be getting them shortly.

I may be working on a group buy in for both the milling of the gears, cutting of the wheels and maybe the steering service once I create a machined link. I have received alot of pm's and I think if I can get at least 5 for each, the prices will be cheap.

member me!!! :ror:

i've seen dh's like that somewhere before;-). like the gear milling, keep me on the list for milling gears and the steering setup"thumbsup"

Almost got it complete this weekend, but after some trial and error and helpful eyes, we noticed I went alittle overboard on gripping the axle for the CNC, which bent the ears and also ovalled the outer bearing recess, so now I get to do some axle fixing.. :(

Its only off by a few hairs so nothing that can be seen on camera. I bent the ears back no problem, its the bearing area that Im worried about now. I will try to re-machine the recess to see if or how much slack is there for the bearing. If it'll work great, if not lessen learned and new tubes on the way. This aluminum used by newage is definitely cheap!

Wanting to get some time on the mill gears just to be sure of strength, however I'm still certain they will hold. I've only had you and 1 other guy on board so far. Need at least 5.

AS for the steering, if you saw my previous post about my axles, that has been put on hold till we have more time to cut another set. I may end up orderding a few long tubes and selling the tubes with or without a core charge.

Well were back to almost rolling. I just need to finish the wheels and tires, battery mount and were ready to rock.

Rolling without battery, body and wheels and tires i'm at 3lb .4 ounces..

Also need to pick up a airtronics horn, this one is to short for full throw.

I've got one milled main gear up front, and my prototype lockers front and rear.

Can't wait to crawl tomorrow night!

what shocks/springs are those

Those are our 100mm Silver threaded shocks with our Mini MRC soft springs.

I ran it last night and need to change a few things, I have way to much front preload and the steering link didn't last long at all! So I need to make a stronger link setup.

Let's see the lockers.

Gonna tear mine down on Monday to install the 4th gear you sent me to test gonna run it all week and see how they hold up.

Rig looks great.

Here is the new lockers, those who received my first batch, please pm me with your shipping details one more time, they will be in the mail monday morning.
