New to the rc stuff just got a redcat gen 7 sport. Went to upgrade to a 3s lipo and didn't move the switch on the esc lol everything I've read says it'll only drain the battery but both nickel and lipo battery on either setting has no throttle response. Steering and lights work and motor will spin when hooked to a battery. The esc beeps and blinks like crazy. Did it ruin the esc?

Is the red, white, back wire connector for the ESC plugged in correctly (black wire to the back and in the CH2 slot)?

That ESC is 3S capable, so unless it had some kind of defect, 3S didn't ruin it. I run my Gen7 and my Gen8 on 3S all the time. As Maxx said, I'd check that all of your wiring is plugged in properly, but the behavior that you're describing sounds like the lipo cutoff is kicking in. When that happens, you can still steer, but the throttle won't work. Verify that your battery is fully charged, or try briefly moving the setting back to the "NIMH" position to eliminate the lipo cutoff.

Thanks for the response guys. I checked the batterys both fully charged and the wire plugs are right but if I switch the wire placements for the servo and esc the motor will work with the steering nob. Seems like channel 2 isnt working properly. Would that be a bad reciever

It sounds like it.

It does sound like the receiver...…………..Captain Obvious question here but how old are your batteries in the transmitter? I've seen weak batteries do some head scratching things...lol.
