ok, so does anyone here have a small enough yard that they use a reel type mower to cut there grass??? kind of like one of these:

my yard is MAYBE 20'x50' in size, and i am absolutely SICK of fighting the damn gas mower for 45 minutes to an hour for 15 to 20 minutes of grass cutting....

also does anyone else here have a cordless electric line trimmer similar to this:

i just got a new gas trimmer last summer, and the damn thing is being a PITA already!!!! i really wish i would of picked up one of these electric ones, instead. but i was wondering, how well do they work? how long does a battery charge last?

With that size yard you may would be better off to just have a lawn service do it so you dont have the upkeep on the equipment. But I would suggest an electric pushmower and weedeater with that size lawn.

reel mowers work great if they are sharp and you keep up on the grass. it will cut just as fast as a gas mower and do a much better job they cut real even.

I haven't ever seen one of the Reel mowers in action. As for the electric weed eater everyone I have used is a piece of sh!t especially the Battery powered ones, they don't do to good of job and you need more than 1 battery pack if you plan to edge with it.

This is the weed eater I use for my parents yard and many of our neighbors yards.

This thing gets fired up everyday except Saturday and Sunday and I haven't had a problem with it yet. Also if you go with a electric weed eater, there aren't very many that use a heavy line.

For the mower and the price of the Reel mower just get your self a 22" craftsman

We have the older version of this, by old I mean about 13 years old. It still starts in the first 3-4 pulls and has never had a problem(or so I've heard) It actually just had its second blade change at the first of spring, yeah the old blade was DULL. We are actually buying the mower I posted above in a few weeks.

i'd get that sears mower and get some exercise....that picture of the soldier trimming his grass is real cool"thumbsup" but bout 4 years old..........bob

....

i have a reel mower, but my yard is big enough to cut with a rider, so i just use the reel mower for fun... but if you have sticks or gumballs in the yard, get ready to get a case of the red ass... i would lookinto a corded, or cordless mower, my dad wants one, but dosnt want to pay the high price just yet...

dont know anything about the cordless weedeaters tho..

Ever try tuning it up? Or buying a quality unit? I have a 18 year old Honda mower that still starts 1 pull everytime. Sure when my Grandma bought it, it was $400 but $400/18 years is a pretty good investment. I myself have had it for just under 6 years, my uncle had is for about 8 as well.

Ever tune it up or buy a quality unit? You get what you pay for $69 trimmer be it electric or gas will be garbage. Though i've managed to keep a $69 Green Machine trimmer now for 5 years, all it takes is cleaning and tuning.

I have that exact cordless trimmer. We just bought it a few weeks ago. The battery lasts about 20 -25 minutes on a charge and then takes a couple hours to recharge again. I start with the trimming until the battery dies. Then I go do the mowing while the battery is recharging so that I can finish the trimming.

I'm going to buy the same mower (push) or (lady)as they are called once I get my back yard figured out, but right now I'm letting the weeds grow.
