Republicans take control of the senate

the republicans just brought home the hottest girl in the wold, and she wants action. if they cant perform she will not be back.

True, but most people I know that bring up the bike path updates, that's (taxes lost from fuel and such) the argument they throw out.

Same here. And when they bring it up, I ask them how much my bike damages the road that I ride on when compared to their vehicle.

Anyway they try to spin it, me riding my bike is not costing people money nor is it me trying to get out of paying my taxes. People just like to bitch about anything they can.

We need bike paths everywhere, it's good to ease traffic/pollution, good for exercise, and why should I care how people get to/from work...good for those who ride their bikes! "thumbsup"

Exactly. The people who get mad at me riding are always the self involved (texting, sucking down a burger and smoking at the same time) fat ass drivers who think that that specific road was built for their car and their car alone. They be wrong. They typically treat other drivers in the same manner as they treat me....

I know i am out of line here as i am not American, but i think the problem really is global.

Biggest of all is that it is the same old same old, granted there might be some new meat in both camps, but you can be sure that they will not be allowed to bring anything new to the table.

So the biggest problem is the entrenched same old same old, and thats why they all have to go ASAP.
I am pretty sure even a pimple faced teen with ADHD will do a less damaging job than the dinosaurs of politics today.

The one argument they probably don't want to hear back is that their driving is actually being subsidized by others. If road maintenance was paid entirely with fuel taxes and registrations, people could not afford to drive anymore. The gas tax hasn't been raised since 1993 and is way out of date. But raise that tax, and people will have more to complain about than bicycles.

The next time you see that hipster on the bike riding to work, you should thank him for paying taxes that helps pay for your roads.

Equal rights require equal responsibility.

To have equal responsibility the riders must have a state endorsement proving they have the training to follow the rules and a positive identification for any accidents, or infractions they may be involved in (like a drivers license.)
As well they would need a minimum of liability insurance.
Also vehicle registration.

I must have all of these to utilize the US road system according to the law.
Why can't bikes sharing the roads step up and take their share of the cost, liability, and responsibility of using the public road system?

I actually agree with you. We have the 50cc scooters running around here as well that don't need a license or registration, but they can use the roads even if they have no idea what's going on.

Dont be too much caught up in sharing guys, you do not want to end up like us the grandmasters of sharing. ( only second to North Korea )

im not disagreeing with you, but do not overlook that there are also plenty of self involved bikers. i'd say the same ratio of drivers/cyclists are assholes.

if someone thinks that by riding a bike they get some sort of pass on obeying traffic laws or being considerate to motorists, then i hate them.

i coexist with bike riders everyday. the good ones ride as part of traffic and recognize and obey the same laws that i do. the bad ones view motorists as some kind of enemy and look for any chance they can to antagonize them.

I fawkin hate Critical Mass... damn massholes!
I got in a big argument with a couple biker friends about it... to the point I thought we may actually not be friends anymore.

They say it's to spread biker awareness but it's really just a drunken mob fawkin up traffic.

In this state, a bike is considered a "vehicle" and therefore must abide by the laws of the road.....just like cars. Which means I must have insurance AND a valid license on me at all times. If I get into an accident, it goes against my insurance.

And I agree with you on the bike training. I also believe that, in conjunction with this training, DL's should require training about bikes. A while back, I asked everyone in my office what the hand signal was for a left turn. Not a single person knew. So what good is it for a cyclist to signal if no one knows what it means??

Other countries require several tests over the years to earn and keep a license....here, just once and your good for life. That needs to change as well....

I agree. Just the other day, I was sitting at a red light, in the bike lane (I was about to cross the access road along I10) and another biker flew past me without even slowing down. When my light turned green and I caught up to him, I let him know that he makes all cyclists look bad when he blatantly disregards the laws....

I moved to Colorado to race bikes, so many here found it odd that I would not participate in any of the Critical Mass rides. I agree that it seems like a good idea to raise awareness, but it always ends up being poorly executed.

I also think you should have to retest if you move to another state.

I did that one morning too. A guy blasted the light and when I caught up to him I told him that red lights are for us too (bicyclists). He started swearing about something so I just kept riding away from him.

You are not out of line. You are not criticizing or bashing America, you are putting perspective on the issue. This crap isnt just an American problem. Its about a bunch of old men, with power and money.

Id like to see them try to impeach the guy, or defund Obama care.

Hes gonna go nuts with his executive powers now.

My biggest gripe, is that he aint black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hes bi-racial, his mother was white. He disrespects his mother, and allows her to be disrespected. The same with his grandmother. At least Tiger Woods said, Im not black, and Im not going to say Im black. Im bi-racial, my mother is Chinese, and I will not dis-respect her. Its no secret that Lenny Kravitz has a white, jewish father. Just cause you are half black, does not make you black. Its just a means to an end to further his politics.
