Revo/Slayer GTR Shock Help (Also Jato Spring ??'s)

Hello All,

Please school me on these shocks -

Are the Revo GTR shocks that same as the Slayer shocks(Besides the Shock body)?

Are the Revo and Slayer shocks the same length?

Is their a difference between the front and rear shocks?

Now on to Jato springs -

Shoul I buy front or rear springs? Can you explain to me the difference between the front and rear springs?

Thanks! "thumbsup""thumbsup"

P.S. These are for an Axial comp rig running a Delrin Slingshot Chassis!!

I run jato shocks so I don't know about the revo/slayer question. About the springs - I don't think there is a difference in the front and rear springs besides rates. I have front yellows (.7 rate) on both front and rear jatos. The yellows are the softest available. There is no difference between the front and rear shocks or the way the springs fit, only the pistons are different.

As far as I know the revo and slayer shocks are identical. Far as springs go, I think they're the same length front and rear, the rate is all that's different, and all I can say about that is you have to experiment with it, every truck and driver is different.

They are right , the only diff between the frt and rear springs are the rate . For the front you will want the yellow for sure and the rear Im not sure . I`m running the blue rears , they work but I think they are a bit too stiff , I`m going to try some yellows in the rear and see how they work out , if they are too soft i`ll try something in the middle .

Yes to all. Same shocks, same length. Now in the Platinum they included a new rebound adjusting piece, you will not want this on the crawler, easily removed.

Front and Rear in the stock shocks off a truck have different pistons. Front is 1 and 2 is rear if I remember right.

Run Droop! No internal springs and 20wt front and 25 wt rear will do very good.

I run my Revo GTR shocks with, 25 weight oil, #1 pistons, RCP internal springs under the piston, and external Jato .7 rate ("yellow") springs .
It works absolutely amazing...best of both worlds"thumbsup"

Just out of curiosity how much shaft is out of the shock @ static ride hieght ? I assume this set up would force the shock to ride some where in the mid part of it`s travel . Been thinking of something like this for awhile just haven`t got around to working it out .

Or am I completely off base on how the set up works ?

Your right. I've been running my shocks like that for a year or so. It does ride just a little below the middle of the shock with about a little under 1/2" out of the shock. So if you push the shock, it pushes back....if you pull it, it pulls back. Depending on what springs you run inside of them you can have more of one and less of the other, or neutral. I have more pull than push. I only have one of my 2.2's set up this way and it takes some getting used to but works pretty damn good;-) It all depends on how you drive and what type of terrain you crawl on....

Yep, it's exactly just like TattooKenny said. The shock rides about in the middle of its stroke. You can adjust it from there with stiffer or softer internal springs.
I use one of these internal springs (cut in half) in each shock, below the piston. http://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?productid=830&cat=14&page=1
My shocks ride slightly above center with this setup... it gives me over 2-7/8" of ground clearance and an extremely stable rig"thumbsup"

Thanks guys, I`ve been bitching for years that i needed a shock that worked that way on a r/c , and thought about the double spring but honestly never thought it would work right . I will try this as soon as I can get some internals . I never have been satisfied with all compression or all droop .
