Alright, I looked at my DVD collection and realized I would like to be able to watch them on my PC without dragging DVD's around or on my Droid 2. After reading a little about the process I figured I would come here and ask what software you guys suggest to use. I have never converted a DVD to MP3-4 before so please take this into mind when suggesting.

Thanks;-)

I just put the disc into my Mac and use MPEG Streamclip, might not be the best but works just fine for me and allows me to convert the DVD into any format and size I want. It's not a fast process, but takes about 1/2 of what the movie is... say if the movie is 120 minutes long, then takes the program about 60 minutes to convert.

I still do all my other things on the computer while it processes.

So you guys are using Handbrake to "convert" the DVD file to an MPEG file. What are you using to "rip" the DVD to a file?

DVDFab HD Decryptor, rip it to the hard drive and monkey with it from there.

Can use DVD Shrink to compress and put into a ISO for mounting re-burning, or Handbreak to put into other formats.

X2 on the DVD Fab. I still use DVD Decrypter as well.

I convert to .mp4 so I can play it on my iPhone/iPod devices.

How are you bypassing the copyright protection?

I am using ANYDVD now, but I am going to be losing my free updates soon. I thought DVD Fab & DVD Shrink were outdated?

I purchased DVD Cloner a couple of years ago. Still works great. I don't bother ripping the Blu-Ray's as they'd take up way too much room, but putting a bunch of my DVD's on an external 1TB hdd is nice.

Maybe it's a Mac thing but.... I put DVD in, select "Open DVD", select "Convert to MP4..." and tell it how big I want the file. I try to keep it between 1GB-1.5GB in size since most of the DVD's I've done have been for my kid and use on his iPod Touch.

Free Quicktime and iMovie is what does this...something Windows does not have

DVD Fab is, but the new version is DVD Fab HD Decyptor, diff program. And as of late its the only thing I can get to crack some disks. If you get the pay version it will also rip BluRay

Shrink will not rip the disk, but will help compress it after you rip the disk to the hard drive. Take ~9gb and cram it down to ~2gb or less if you strip menus and languages.
