Some of those look like they would make some decent winches.

That one gear box has 5000:1. Holly crap.
It also has worm gears which hold it in place when the motors not running.
And a clutch system. Sounds cool, probably to big.

Your right about a couple of them might make a good winch.

the ratios on some of those gearboxes is crazy - i mean 5000-1 you wouldnt be able to see the truck moving! and they are all cheap too.....

I did something like that. I bought two cheap drills from a surplus store a while back. They were labelled 18 volt, but were really 7.2s.

I used them for a while, but then one day stripped it down and took out the trans.

Mounted it and made my Maxx RWD. Tons of torque, sheared the driveshaft, but slow. A little faster than a TLT with a Pede trans, lathe and M2k's.

Only issue was that it was 2WD, and an inch of snow stopped it dead in it's tracks since it balled up the front tires, and there was almost no weight on the back.

FWD worked a little better, but by then it was already dark, so I said screw it.

I wonder if you could use the second to last trans instead of a big rig 3 speed?

Anyone want to buy one and see how easy it is to shift, and can it be done while moving? I know that on some DeWalts, if you shift while pressing the trigger, you'll grind some gears and smell some burning plastic, but on some Black and Deckers, it'll shift without problems.
