UPDATED INFO:

Ok, everything is set for Sedona-Slide Rock:

Saturday August 6th - Sedona, AZ - Get Together - Everyone meet at Slide Rock Market at 10:30am. I will be there earlier than 10:30am, but I'd like everyone to meet up at this later time just in case anyone is running late. We've received the OK from both Slide Rock State Park and the Forest Service to use our R/C crawlers at Slide Rock State Park. I hope you guys can come out and enjoy the awesome terrain at the park and enjoy the water/swimming and cliff diving. Admission is $10 per vehicle. Parking is limited so the later you get there the longer you will have to wait for a parking spot. The last time at the park we arrived at 10:30am and had to wait about 20 minutes for a parking spot. But this spot is well worth the wait.

Original Post:

Just got back from slide rock park in sedona. The cliff diving is awesome there and there is an unlimited amount of rock crawling. Plus, it's cooler than it is here. So who's in? You can also just go swimming if you don't want to jump off the cliffs.

I'm going to call the park manager to see if we can bring the crawlers in, but i don't forsee a problem.

Not sure of a date and time. Would you guys rather do a comp or a get-together? Sedona is about 2 hours up. Park admision is $10 per car for up to 4 people. Parking is limited, so as the day goes on you have to wait for people to leave before you can get in. But if we get there early (around 9am) we should be ok. But even at 11am, we only waited about 20 minutes.

I fly back to pheonix on the 28th so if the date is after that I would be up for a sedona trip.

Is this for the Aug. date?

Can I vote if I am coming out?

hey. we can go to sedona on Aug 14th when we had the next comp scheduled. and it doesn't have to be a comp, it can be either. But will sedona be good for you Franky? I guess it would be ok, because you are closer to vegas and after the event you will have 2 hours less driving.

I was planning on staying in Phx anyways for the weekend so I wasn't planning on driving back after the event.

Ok all you local guys, do you want to do this on July 31rst, when the next get-together is scheduled. The problem is that we have the next get together scheduled already for phoenix (July 31), then two weeks later a comp. I'd like to do sedona before it starts getting cool because the water there is cold. Remember, sedona is cooler and plus there is shade.

i already got the ok from the park manager. the river is controlled by the forest service and i will call them tomorrow. But the park manager is the one on site and i don't think there will be a problem.

How does this sound to everyone. Let's move everything up one week. So, the next get together (testing for sedona :) ) will be this weekend Sunday July 24th. Then we'll do sedona on August 6th or 7th (whatever is better for everyone), which is looking like it will be another get-together. Then we'll do our next comp on saturday august 27th.

mesaAZclod, you got pm.

cowboyrc, i hope you can make it out.

Sunday July 24th - Get Together - 24th Street at South Mountain - 8am start - We will be crawling on the west side of the ridge where there will be shade at that time of day. If you are not there on time you may have to do some hiking to find us.

For 24th Street events: 24th street dead-ends at South Mountain Park, approximately 6 miles south of Sky Harbor Airport and Downtown Phoenix. Parking is available just east of the dead-end. If you show up and don’t see anyone around in the parking lot with crawlers, please walk up the trail or over the ridge. We’re never too far off.
