For competitive crawling or just bashing?
If for competitive crawling, you will probably end up throwing everything out except the axles. If bashing, it could be fun and would be pretty easy to setup for a newbie.

There are no competitions around here so.........just for fun but I want the best I can get to start out with and I def want a 1/8th scale. I like this because it's all metal. I'm not a fan of plastic.

You could get some trusted clod axles and a chassis and go from there. And it'll be cheaper. Clod axles are like $130, and that includes bearings. Just a thought for you, but I'm tight with money so I go pretty budget on a lot of things.
