Romney , Ryan 2012 A+++++++

Walmart. They singlehandedly shut down at least a dozen small shops when they came to town. Got even worse when they built the Super Walmart.

Then Lowes and Home Depot showed up. They've killed all but one mom & pop hardware store.

There are many things about Walmart that is wrong. They are about as patriotic as a French Poodle.

The joke was you in a jogging suit. Not many people get suited up to write angry letters.

We currently export 2 million barrels a day. We use 20 million a day. Oil exports have actually gone down a bit in the past few years. I don't see much of a base for argument there.

walmart didint close down anything, it was the mom and pop stores that didnt think ahead and plan that shut down.

When I was a kid, there was motts 5&dime every where, I could say that big department stores shut them down, but then pops up dollar generall, and famly dollar and they are alive and well.

The market place is constantly changing, even if we dont notice it, 40 yrs ago there was probably people saying that it was motts 5& dime who was shutting down the little guys.

Seriously? What should the mom & pop stores done? Carry cheaper shit than Walmart?

I have no real issue with small locally owned chain stores. A good portion of the time they bring stuff to places that never had it before, and most of its profits stay in the community. Its the giant mega stores like WalMart that kill small businesses at wholesale rates, and most of their profits head out of town.

i doubt at this point there is a retailer on the planet that can compete with wall marts buying power..they actually dictate to manufacturers how much they are gonna pay..and of course they drove alot of small businesses under..silly to believe otherwise, they wield far too much power

I think its absolutely awesome how republicans can finance a trillion dollar war and get away with that but when democrats spend trillions of dollars they freak the **** out and become super interested in balancing the budget even though they are just as responsible for it in the first place.

to the guy who loves shopping at walmart and thinks mom and pop stores are worthless and seemingly deserve to be run out of business, when you stop being a cheap wad you will realize that instead of padding the already enormous off shore bank account of the walton family, spending money at a locally owned and operated store does a lot better for the entire community.
People really have stopped caring about the well beings of their fellow neighbours, its all about me me me. People need to ask why they can't afford to support the local businesses. you can name all the talking head bullshit fox news wants you to believe when the real elephant in the room is that the financial elite are taking an ever increasing share of the pie. only to have the very people they are thereby oppressing defend their their actions for them, praising them and congratulating them for doing it.

I buy local, I'm a concreteguy. There's 2 cement plants in town. One was bought and the owners are overseas. They came to me and offered me concrete for 25.00 a yard less than the local owned plant sells theirs for. I asked why and they straight up said ,We are trying to run the other plant out of town.
Need less to say I havn't bought a wheel barrow of mud from them sence that day, I cancled the load I had coming that day. It been 4 years at 25.00 a yard, I pour around 300 to 500 yards of mud a year.
I been talking to the other concreteguys in town for the whole 4 years. Most don't buy from them. The only reason they are still in business is because the state has been doing a lot of highway and bridge work in our area and they are suppling the mud. That work will be done by the end of the year. Wonder if they will be to.

I figure in the last 4 years I've spent 20,000 to keep it local. Because if the local plant shuts down, they'll name their price and I'll be paying more than that.

Yep, exactly. People seem to forget that competition in a capitalist society benefits the consumer. It results in the companies competing for your business by putting out a better product at a better price.

Good for you Ricky! "thumbsup"
