Rooster Crawler Frustrations!

So I have installed a new Rooster Crawler into my AX-10. I am dealing with the dreaded glitches. I emailed Novak with pictures and a discription of the issues. I went through all their suggestions and repaired the problems. Cleaned up the wiring, moved the receiver, moved the antenna away from the ESC. shortened up the power wires, shortened the caps on the motor and made sure that nothing was shorting.

Battery fully charged.
TQ3 Transmitter new batteries.
Motor Integy 55t has 5 packs run through it.

Up for any suggestions. :-(

refund and get a mamba max?
looks like you did a ton to fix it via novak and that didnt fix it.
never had an issue with a MM. the integy motors are pretty noisy ime. maybe borrow another motor brand? better radio gear will help alot too.

I also thought about a new motor! Easy way to figure if that is my problem. Will work on that tomorrow! Thanks

I have been thinking about getting a Spektrum DX3 guess I might have to make the upgrade.

i say get a FM radio and ditch the AM 27 MHZ ... my rooster crawler is flawless and i use a futaba 3pk with 2.4ghz faast set-up .. "thumbsup"

and to be honest, the only reason to get a mamba is if you are going to run brushless. other than that the rooster performs about the same for cheaper and in my opinion novak is a hell of alot better company.. i have used there products for years with no issues

I want to try and get this ESC to work and I am not trying to bag on Novak. I just had no problems with my 30 dollar Moped ESC. There are others that are using this same setup that are not experiencing glitching. I will have to look into a different radio setup. Thanks for the suggestions!

FYI, The integy motors right out of the bag, are HORRIBLE... sure they may work, but the comms are horribly out of true on them, which, can lead to excessive arching, which can lead to glitching. I would see if someone can chuck one of your motors onto a lathe, and cut the comm, re break in the brushes and give that a try as well.

X2

The integy motors are the most tapered and out of round I've seen out of a new motor, ever. Take it to a local RC race track and somebody there should be able to cut the comm for you. I got my RCE, installed it in place of the Super Rooster that was there, no changes, and it works flawlessly.

Can I cut the Comm? How do I do it? Whats the proceedure? Where can I find pics and a explanation of the process? I'm willing to give it a try.

I don't understand why the Integy motors are the problem. When we first started using 55T lathe motors, they were the first motors we could use with our Novak Roosters (old school) and Super Roosters that didn't need capacitors. :?

$30:shock:! I just sold one to someone here for $12 shipped! I agree with JIA, the radio is the link between the truck and your hand and I would not trust a $30 or $12 radio with a thousand dollar super!

I purchased a TQ3 because I wanted to make sure that I was going to like this Crawlin thing without spending an arm and a leg. NOW THAT I'M HOOKED."thumbsup" I will have no problem getting a better radio! Just frustrating that others are using the same setup with no issues. Time to start spending money!

make sure you dont have all of your wires routed like a yarn ball.. clean and nice wiring is a huge difference. integy motors are crap by the way.. they are the most sorry excuse for a motor.. but hey thats my opinion..haha i used to work for team brood racing and built and tuned motors every day and when i saw one of these and took them apart they are about the same quality as the motor in a playstation duall analog with vibrate controller..lol but oh well there only 19 bucks and are mean for a motor lathe. what can you expect"thumbsup"

Were you able to clear up the problems that you had at the gsrcrc comp :?:

I have the same glitching problem with a DX3 and my wires are ran nice and clean. I'm going to try new motors and caps.
