hey guys first post here. I'am looking into getting an ascender blazer in thhe next few weeks as soon as i can get thee fundage for it. how good or bad arethee stock rtr elctonics since im looking into getting the rtr version. An anothher question what are the must do if any upgrades out of the box, Also how are the stock tires for general trailing thanks everyone in advance.

Hi, im a crawler newbie too and i have the rtr blazer. I believe the stock electronics are fine right out of the box. The dx2 radio is very basic and has no " expo" on the throttle trigger, as a result the trigger throttle response is very sudden. To drive the rtr rig smoothly requires good trigger control. Make sure to youtube the dx2 steering end point set up to take advantage of the ascenders great steering angles, mine was factory set to turn a bit less.
The steering servo is ok, maybe a bit under powered for most people, but perfectly fine for newbies like me.
Ilike the tyres alot, the rtr foams are single stage and mine have perished after 8 months and are now too soft.

Also, i have only 1 upgrade so far, a slightly stronger steering servo and sometimes run the rig on 3s for a big power boost!
Oh yeah! It doesnt hurt to back the slipper clutch off a bit too, its factory set very high also.

The stock electronics are just fine for a newbie and trail runs. Even rock crawling too. The only upgrade I've done to mine is a stronger steering servo after am few months of hard use my stock one started to get some play in the output shaft. I'm still using the stock receiver and esc and they're doing great. It's a very smooth combo running on 2s right out of the box. 3s is great for trail runs that a bit less technical with tons more wheel speed and fun. I run mostly very steep rock crawling that takes great control and smoothness so I stick with 2s.

Buy the truck and use it. They're great and you'll have a blast. Take some time to read Natedog's build thread. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vaterra-ascender/538944-natedogs-vaterra-ascender.html

I did and learned so many things and have made a great RTR truck even better with just a few simple mods and have been using it weekly since early September with no breakages or wear really. Check my build thread out too.

Have fun!

As everyone else has said, stock electronics are good, I've been running mine hard for a month and no issues!
