Run Time

How much run time do you guys get out of a battery charge?

I'm running a Clod with a rooster ESC and a single 6 cell 3000mh battery. Now maybe I'm not getting a full charge but I"m only getting about 3 minutes of run time.

Is this normal?

What motors?

I get an hour to an hour and a half out of my 2400's in my TLT which uses a single T-600 motor.

I know that lathe motors in clods can get comparable run times.

Blacksheep, I'd buy a pair of 55t lathe motors and some 9 or 10 tooth pinions. Your run time will increase, axle stall will decrease and run times will greatly improve. Honestly it sounds like you need new batteries or charger, any motor/battery combo should give you more run time then you're getting.

I moved all your other questions to the Newbie forum because all those questions have been answered before. ;-)

Thanks Bender. Right now I"m running a 9t pinion. The batteries I'm using are new but the charger is older so that could also be part of the problem. Where's the best place to get the 55T lathe motors?

If your using a nicad charger on nimh batts., you'll false peak your batts.
could be your problem..

Thanks Silver. That's gonna be another part of the problem. I'm using a Dynamite Mega 1 charger that is designed for nicad batteries.

What charger do you guys use?

Hey, heading to Mike's right now!

THey told they had to order them. Maybe they were kickin' me around since Sam at the counter is related to my wife and I once worked there.

I am getting the same results with my truck, very short run time. I have MM's and a Rooster, good integy charger and 2400ma batts.

I've got a similar problem with runtime but I've only got 1300mAh NiCad's, would it be better to change to NiMH's.

The charger I have is supposed to be able to handle both types so do not think it's the charge....although I have just put it on a trickle charge overnight.

I have noticed that the battery gets quite warm after running.

Motors are 19T or 21T

Any advice please.

They do have to order them. Talk to Michael. He knows exactly which motors to order. I have a couple if you need them in a hurry.

I got it!

I re-wired the truck today, instead of par., I ran it in series and it worked perfect. About 20 mins worth of messing around. I think it will be ready once the servos are upgraded.

BeadLock, did you notice a major difference in power when you changed from parallel to series, in theory you should have lost some top speed and gained a heap of torque?

Big difference

Very big difference, however my esc is only a Rooster which isn't rated for dual motors I was just told. It overheats pretty fast running in parallel. Gained a lot of speed going from P to S. Back to series for me until I win a small lottery. (Or the wife gives me my allowance)

boy if you guys get 1hr on 2400s i wonder what id get from mine if i put on lathes because i run a about 1hr and 15min with my 540s now and a 6volt 10 amp battery sealed lead acid and kongs 9tooth light crawling due to weight and non bulletpoof drivetrain forest crawling and bashing truck weighs 18 pounds total and the battery itself weighs 5.5
