I've searched the threads and wired the split 7 cell pack to the diagrams shown, I'm runniing two 45t motors, an xl1 esc, split 7 cell 300mah batteries on a super, I'm only getting maybe 10 minutes of run time. Is this normal? I have a novak super rooster and a set of 9t pinions on order. I'm running two futaba 3305 servos also. All the searches ive done said the run times are longer. The axle seem to be working freelyand nothing binding. Is it possible the esc is drawing to much. I took it to a rock pile today with fresh batteries and got around 7 minutes of run time. I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong or not? thanks in advance for any help.

If the 300mah is not a typo, that's about all you are going to get for sure. IF you really are running a 300 pack, you need to go for something in the 3000mah range for any kind of runtime. for sure if you are running 2 motors.....

im running a 3000mah 7 cell split pack with an traxxas XL1 esc. sorry fofr the typo......:? the pinions are stock 13t with stock clod trans on a super weighing about 9lbs

There is definetly something not right, i used to get around 45-50 min on a 3300mah sub c 6 cell pack, i was running 55 lathes with 9t pinions, so i would guess that with your stock pinions you shoul be able to at least get 35 min of runtime on fully charged battery.

Thats what im thinking, something is wrong, just not sure what? I ordered a new novak super rooster to try. I'm hopin thats the prob? when i take the motors out the axles spin free so i dont think its inthe axles or tranny, IS it possible to get 2 bad motors?

What KIND of batteries?

What KIND of charger?

Those 2 things will play a HUGE role in your run times. A top of the line charger will charge crappy packs better that a decent charger will with top of the line batteries.

That is exactly what I was going to ask. A bad charger, or a low budget pack will deffinitly play a big roll in your run time. Not so much your ESC.

And like weenis boy stated, if you have peak detection on your charger check that also.

the batteries are made by epic i think, I took the covers off to wire a split pack. The charger is a mrc super brain 960, I also have a prophet plus, i use them both on my pede with no problem. I've also used one of the packs on the pede with no problems. I did just find one thing that might be it. I tookt he motors apart to rewind them to 70t and found one brush that was jamed in the brush holder. It actually broke getting it out. I rewond the motors and installed new trinity brushes so well see if it fixed it. I have great respect for this forum and the info on here, it has been so helpful in building and designing my super. And the tech info and help is wonderful."thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup" well see if it was the problem in a few minutes.....lol

Well it worked, I got almost 30 minutes out of it...."thumbsup" It was the brushes i guess. Thanks to holmes hobbies on rewiring a motor i now have 2 - 70t motors....."thumbsup" it wasnt so bad after all....lol great thread...."thumbsup""thumbsup"wewll now to finish the body, sand and paint.....and wit for the super rooster esc.......:)

whats the average time a super weighing 10lbs should run? I'm going to time it after i install the rooster esc, I'm thinking something might be wrong with the traxxas xl1 esc when it got to hot. I just picked up the rooster so after I get the tuber sanded and painted I'll time it. the set up ill be running is two 70t motors, a roster crawler esc, and a split 7 cell 3000mah battery pack and a set of 9t pinions.

with 55t motors, 8t pinions, 3000mah battery and 10lbs clod i was getting over an hour

with the 70t i would have thought you would get alot more

Again,WHAT battery and WHAT charger will make a big difference. You guys can't compare just "my 3000 mah batteries" and "your 3000 mah batteries". I've seen different cell brands do complete opposite things and they were all the same mah ratings, all charged off the same charger.

He's running 9t pinions and your running 8t pinions. A taller gear in his will help diminish the fact that he's running a higher wind motor. Tire size also plays in as it effects gear ratios. The weight of your throttle finger also plays a HUGE role in the equation.

I'd like to know this info too as i'm working on my setup and trying to find a nice combo with speed, torque,AND runtime.

I would never of dreamed i could get 30 minutes of runtime!! I must of been out of the bag for longer than i thought!!

Technology!! :D

The charger I run is a Hyperion EOS0606I AC/DC Charger

2100 3 cells on my super class rig and 1300 3 cells on my 2.2 I can get 30 minutes+ out of either one. Allot depends on how a guy drives. Full throttle assaults will lessen the run time. Half throttle, slow crawling will dang near double the run at times. Gearing down will add run time but you sacrifice the fun pedal.
