I just bought two (max amps) 6 cell NIMH 1600mAh saddle packs (have been using stick packs) and was wondering whats the beest way to mount them on my front axle? Is the battery servo tray work well with saddle packs? or should I just mount them on the axle with out any kind of plate? I do NOT want to use zip ties since I have two of these and will need to swap them out and will be using the velcro straps that come with the crawler. Please post pictures thanks!

In my experience plates down on each side of the axle work best. This works better than the servo battery plate because it keeps the CG lower.

This is how mine mount, note they are full size cells, waaaaay longer runtime and waaaay more current. I just made some aluminum plates and screwed them down then used the stock velcro straps to hold them on. I tried to take pics showing that they dont touch the tires at all, and the best part is they put 1lb on your front axle. These packs were made by RCDemon. I had to email them because they arent on they're website but they got them to me in 3 days. they're email address is on the web page

Those are Sub C cells?They don't interfear with your steering linkage?

if you,ve already purchased the plates that is fine, but un-nessisary.
take the straps that came with the kit and use two screws to secure them onto the axle(screw threw the center of the straps). if you have the plates, secure the velcro straps between the axle and the plates.
using the straps included in the axial kit for this purpose will eliminate the use of zipties making it easier to replace batteries or removing them for whatever reason you need to.

Got the ones in the picture and mounted the velcro straps under the plate. You cut two small holes for the screws then mount the plate on top.

xblade, yes they are subC, if you read the post it says they dont touch at all, the steering isnt affected at all. i know it looks like the velcro would interfere with the servo arm but it actually doesnt at all, the cells stick just far enough to keep the velcro off of it. works great"thumbsup"

when i bought mine. it was a stick pack. didn't know better.. what i have is a 6-cell 3000mah that i broke down into 2 3cell humps. soldered them how i wanted and mounted straight to the axle, no plate. the velcro strap goes around the servo like Shurnuff has his. works really well, no binding.
