Savox SW-1210SG voltage question

Hi all-

I finally broke down and bought a new and quality servo because....We all know stock servo's SUCK.

My question is- I am running my TRX-4 completely stock besides this servo and the stock servo i've read some where is 6v.. But this new servo CAN run at 7.4v... How do I adjust it to run at the 6v rating or the 7.4v rating? I am running NIMH in my setup now so I need to run it at 6v and 277 oz of torque is enough for me...Can anyone explain this to me??

It's not adjusted w/in the servo, it's up to the power source you're feeding to it. If it's stock then it's the ESC that's feeding it 6V. You need to get a "UBEC", which is just a miniature power supply. That hooks to the battery and taps into the servo's power/ground wires. There are endless amounts of write-ups on how to do this, and it's not model-specific.

I burned up my stock TRX4 ESC with my Savox 1230 because I didn't run a BEC. I replaced it with a Hobbywing 1080 and I like it a lot better than the stock ESC. It's a lot smoother, much cheaper and has more options than the Traxxas ESC. It also has no issues with running my Savox servo.:)
 
Consider one of these if you want to run an external BEC and don't want to do any soldering:

The two big deals about this particular BEC is that it is plug and play (no soldering), and that it only sends its voltage to the steering servo. This way you can run a custom voltage to the servo and keep everything else at the stock voltage.

Thanks for linking this. I still haven't bought a lipo yet and I'm trying to stay with NiMh for as long as I can...Any electronics tips for me regarding this and my servo??

Pretty sure I burned out mine too.....Today, It completely stopped running and gave me a solid RED light on the receiver and a fast flashing green light on the ESC.....What does this mean?
