Scale search and rescue lighting ?

Building a scx based defender 90 search and rescue rig for my son who is on love with saftey vehicles like fire engines, ambulances, ect.....

I am looking to put some blue/red strobes like the real vehicles have. Anyone know of something to use for this ? LEDs? Controllers ?

I remember a thread from a year or so ago that the person used those cheap disposable lighters for his light bar. I'll see if I can dig up the thread and add a link.
