Scale wooden bridges?

Hey fellow scale guru's! As some may or may not know I invested in a laser for us to produce some of our own parts in house. One thing I have been wanting to produce a scale wooden bridge kit. Looking for input and suggestions for plans and or designs.

Would this be something of interest of coarse price permitting? I know myself would start a new scale coarse just to put one up "thumbsup"

Not much input, but I'm sure they would be a hit!!! I would get one or 2? It would be nice if they were easily portably so they could be set up at various locations for different events? Something collapsible or easily broken down into a few pieces?

ive made a few for myself. id be interested in one for my course. no clue what style id like.

will it be a span style? ie just set up between two ledges? no supports?
or one will supports and pillars like the one above?

i think id like it portable (even if 36-48" long) so i could take it to scale comps/GTGs.

The club I belong to has a covered wooden bridge that we use at the scale comps. It takes 2 guys to handle it but it sure adds a nice element of 'scaleness' to the comps.

Very cool to even think of offering a bridge kit for the scale stuff!

Awesome idea, if there were a way to make a mobile modular system where pieces could be added to lengthen or shorten etc to fit different terrains that would be killer.

I think if you made a basic design no railings or suspension and offered that as a "base" model..maybe diff lengths of 24,36,48 inches then build and offer "accessories"..railings..possibly a Suspension kit" and adjustable cylinder base for diff terrain..possibly even a "linking" kit to attach diff sections together...the key I think would be the base model..simple yet have the ability to accessorize in any way each person wants. Just my 2 cents.

Make sure the garden train running guys allso know, cuz to my knowlege they pay heavely for ther bridges.

A bridge that can hold a scaler in with, should allso be able to take 2 G-scale tracks beside eatchother i guesstimate.

Wooden trestle - bridges for permanent installment and perhaps unfoldeable / snap together "steel" bridges ( arch / box style ) in ALU to unfold and put up on the trail if needed.

Portable stuff sould offcourse fit inside a reasonable small back pack.

Minimum LOAD requierments : i would go for at least 10 kilo on the permanent models to be sure it can carry the majorety of RC cars and trucks and the larger model trains.

I might be over the top here ( nothing new for me ) :ror:

But how about making portable suspension bridges ?

That way all that have to go in the back pack is modules of interlocking roadway - xx pices of string - 4 pylons and 4 tent pegs to ancor it all.

Beside the engeneering challenge in putting the thing up,( good time for a break on the trail )
a "swinging" bridge should offer a little more challenge to the driver.

The roadway modueles could be of good proper function and look, or the left over from WW2 look, with holes and pices rotten away.

You could end up with a bunch of hardcore scale guys building a humoungous suspension brigde over ther local creek or river, i can picture me a scaler suspended over a raging river held up by a allmost invisible web of string.

I think it's a great idea Cory. I would check into model RR bridges for design ideas. Most come in kits and there a many styles to chose from.
