Well, it’s been about 25 years since my last build. I find myself stuck at home, attempting to keep a couple of small children from tearing the house down, generally bored out of my gourd. In trying to find something that might occupy my hands and my mind (and knowing that a new LEGO kit would only get me through a day or two) I found myself coming back to RC.
So after a bit of research (though almost certainly not enough) I have picked out a kit, ordered some parts, and I am about to embark on this new build.
Inspired primarily by JohnnyAnguish, I thought I would document the process here, warts and all.
So, a little background...
RC: My last build was a half finished truck in my early teens. I got in a little over my head at the time, not really knowing how involved the construction would be. I got things running, but the truck never got painted and was always a bit half finished.
The Jeep: IRL I owned a 1999 Black Jeep Cherokee Sport 2-door for almost ten years. My XJ had a 1.5” suspension lift and ran 31” BFG All Terrain KO tires on stock rims. It had a black roof rack with a spare tire mount. Man I loved that car.
The Plan: I’m building this as a backyard crawler and an homage to my 1999 XJ.
Next Up: The Parts Order
