I tried search but it seems its down...

I HATE CHROME! :) !

How can i remove bling chrome from rims by proline 40 series (velcity 6 ) ?

I remebered some mention said use Easy Off cleaner will remove it but how? let it soak then rubbing it off or ??

whats other way to remove chrome from rims?

I will paint it black or alloy color

THANKS!
JAKE

easy off - let it soak for 20-30 mins
hose it off
re spray and soak
use a Toothbrush and hose it off again

you chrome nightmares will be over.
FYI it will tend to yellow some rims so pick your favourite color of RiT dye (has no oeefect on dyed color though)

thanks so much!

Now about dye color....Umm dye Rit please explain to me like where to order it, website?, is it too messy to dye it? whats the require?

;) or i ll try search again..

thanks
jake

You can pick it up at places like Walmart and Kmart, its a clothing dye. If I remember right you boil your wheels in water with the dye.

That is correct.. A couple gallons of water, and a bottle of RIT. Add the rims and your off. Give them some time in the dye. I usually give them about 20-30 minutes. Which is more than enough time. Black has been my fav so far. I have used many colors. Works like a charm. Good luck!

Don't boil the rims just heat up the water/dye and remove from heat. Drop in the items you want to dye and wait for 20-30 mins.
I say this because some rims will deform if heated too high such as boiling .... go ahead, take a wild guess  ... I wasn't always the brilliant tard I am now.

I prefer the liquid dye, but either will work.

Couple of tips:

make sure and use an old pan (duh :? )

If you use a spoon to stir the wheels in the dye (don't have to, but I do), DON'T lay the spoon on the countertop... ...your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/mother will probably kill you for the mess it leaves behind...

I used easy off cleaner and it didnt really complete remove chrome...toothbrush seems did not help..

but i m thinking its possibly because of COLD outside that cause it to slow soak it/remove ??

Jake

rinse and repeat ... the cold will have an effect. easy-off works best in warm weather. you can get the stuff in the blue can that works on a cold oven. I've had to do couple re-applicatins on some rims (some chrome sticks better than others) but it does work.

Good new is that all chrome bling on wheels is GONE!

bad new.. i think i messed up wheels with rit dye black cuz i suspect that i didnt do right way to do it.. oh well cuz its brownish...not complete black :(

I m saying to myself fck this and just use rattle spray :) !!!

Thanks!
Jake

some rims are made of differnt plastics ... Tamiya stadium blitzer rims for example ... when i dyed these it took almost an hour in hot dye. My Ofna's took 15mins.

yea, i think i left it in dye pan for almost an hour...

I just got an idea that i will use hobby paint black that use for plastic model planes, cars etc..

Thanks!
Jake
