I got my first car, and its my dream car, just never thought one would be my first car!

Wednesday, we got into my old hometown, went to eat. Spotted a Really hot car across the street forsale. I was freezing and forgot my jacket so I almost didn't go look at it, lol. Glad I did! My father and I walking over there it was dark and we were think "he probably wants alot for it" Went over and looked at it, the price didn't seem to bad for what the car was. Ended up having a look Friday, took it on a test drive. Everything checked out fine, called a Saturday and offered him 2,400, and he took it. He wasn't really concerned about the money he made off the car. It was his fathers car that had passed away, his father was planning to restore the car while adding a little "hot rod" to it. He wanted someone like my father and I to buy it.

I'm sorry for the long story and all, but its almost over!

Not bad man. My brother is infatuated with those things. Last summer he put a 387 circle track motor in it and thinks its hot shit. Personally Id rather have a Buick GNX.

These are the only pics I have of the car he has done a good bit to it since these were taken after huricane Katrina.

With some love and a little bit of money you can make that into a really sweet ride. Congrats on your first car! Luckly you didn't have to pay for it lol.

I sold my dirt bike a few months ago, I put the $1600 towards this. And this is my Birthday/Christmas present, most of it anyway.

Nice choice for a first car! One of my favorites too. Looks like you got a pretty decent deal. That's the only way to buy them, bone stock/original. The longer you have it, the more you'll fall in love with it. They're really good driving cars. I've got an '86 notch that was my first car. I bought it in comparable shape to yours and fixed it up. What's the plans for yours? Oh yeah, check out the forums on http://www.montecarloss.com/ for anything you could want to know about a 4th gen SS. Here's a pic of my SS.

nice..
Alot better than my first ride..
Pos 86 s10 with cab corners eat out and a weak 2.8 auto..
But i did have to pay for it myself.
No freebies here:-(

Nice. Yeah I signed up on those forums. I'm not sure if I want to do something similar to keeping it bone stock and just restoring it, or do kinda both restoring it and adding a little twist to it, and add some performance. Though the car really launched pretty hard today on the way home, more than I was expecting for something with 170,000 miles. Wish I could have gone and actually done some driving. Don't have a tag yet though.

Damn Shaun, didn't I give you a jacket in Disney!

Nice score on the Monte Carlo, good to see real car and not some damn rice burner!"thumbsup"

Those aerocoupes are really rare, it looks good though. Whatever happens try to hold on to that! I wish I still had my first car. Would have been easier to hold on to had it not been burned so badly in that fire...

I'm not quite sure. It has almost all the options from the factory. I'll have to take a look this weekend, when I'm back down there.

Nice vid.

I'm sure just a good tune up would actually wake it up a little, though its got some decent power already.

The option code for posi is G80. It'll be on the sticker underneath the trunk lid.

I didn't realize how many options yours has, it looks to have the remote passenger mirror and everything. Yours has that number pad to the right of the steering column. There was a discussion on the Monte Carlo website, iirc it was a dealer installed alarm system and is pretty rare. Don't quote me on that, I'm just going from memory.

Damn Shaun.. Nice ride... I had a 84 SS that got me into Time Magazine February 23rd of 1998 for street Racing out on San Fernando Rd in Cali (I dont do that anymore).. The car got broken into 8 times and then the car ended up getting stolen.. I recommend getting an alarm on that car as quick as possible...That car is way too easy to steal.. And when I am up in tulsa one weekend I want to race you at the track.. Here is my little SS 96 Impy..

I forgot to say, Take of the T-tops and clean inside the rails really good.. That is a known place for these cars to rust..You have to do that everytime you wash it too.. Clean the inside of the rear wheel wells too...

Watch the bottom of the doors too...those like to rust.

My only issue with the design of this era was the heavy doors on hinges that didn't seem up to the job.
