I have stripped the stock pot metal gears in the rear of my yet Twice .so I upgraded to the axial hd gears. I wanna shim these up cause they have a lil slop in them. They were expensive so would like to make them last. Question is what size shims do I need.

I have a wraith as well probably wouldn't hurt to do the diffs in it. Even though it's stock gears in the axles just a bit of a preventative maintenance wouldn't hurt. Gears can get expensive when you have multiple rigs you beat on lol

Save a step and use an Avid thrust bearing on the pinion gear side like what's listed in my guide. It's .5mm thicker so it acts as a shim and bearing at the same time and you won't have to worry about having the inner pinion bearing coming apart on you.

My problem isn't pushing the pinion deeper toward the ring, I need more space to pull it away. But don't want to run a thinner bearing. I've shimmed it to pull it away as much as I can but still get bind. Ugh.

Which one of those would be to shim the pinion closer to the ring?
I'm guessing the 2nd one?
