Shoe Goo

Anyone know if it ever goes bad? I have a new tube that I bought a few years back. Never opened it until a few weeks ago. I went to use it after narrowing a 3.2 HPI tire and I ran a nice bead around the one slice by the time I went to stick the two slice together the bead was sorta rubbery. Ended up peeling the bead off the one slice.
I worked with plastic welder glue(lowes)which is similar to shoe goo. Smells the same and dry's the same. But didnt dry this quick. I had more time with plastic welder glue than this stuff.
Im wondering if the glue went bad? Its still nice and loose but gets clumpy as soon as the air is hitting it. To me its just drying way too fast.
Anyone else have experience with it? Ready to just buy some

I had the same tube for about five years & it still works great. Just getting ready to repair some cracks on my wraith's Bronco body.

I've had tubes of shoe goo harden on me in (what seems like) a short amount of time.

I tend to stray towards E6000 for the same applications for shoe goo instead. Waterproofing, gluing, sealing, etc. Fair warning though. I've bought tubes of E6000 before that hardened in its own sealed tube.

It's probably a function on when the glue was actually manufactured more so than when it was sold.

I took it over the garage and Im gonna try it over there with 60 degree weather instead of 68 degree in the house. I think Im going to do both slices of each tire and see how that works out....

Ended up throwing the tube out. Soon as I hit my finger with it,it was dryed out in a mere seconds. I found a tube of E6000 tonight. Gonna give it a try. Thanks for letting me know about it as Kmart didnt even carry shoe goo and only had this and amazing goop.


Wanted to add that professional welder glue from lowe's also has the same stuff too (waterproofing,sealing etc). Only thing is they offer 2 smaller tubes but the tips are pencil tip like so you can add a minimal amount.
