I am going to start running comps here in Indy in the spring and need to put together a rig. I decided on the Vanquish VRD platform. I really like the Vanquish H10 I bought, so I decided to stick with them for this build too. Got most of what I need for the build, but still need to purchase a servo and the VRD. Once Vanquish gets them back in stock (ETA - FEB), I'll be ready to get this baby rolling.

Build List:
  • Chassis - VRD Carbon kit w/ Stubby Kit
  • ESC - Hobbywing QUICRUN WP 10BL80
  • Motor - Hobbywing QUICRUN Outer 3530SL (2200KV)
  • Servo - Reefs 500
  • Wheels - Injora 1.9 Beadlocks
  • Tires - Proline 1.9 Trepadors
  • Body - JConcepts Anvil (Cab Only) - might go for a RatRod inspired paint scheme
  • Custom tube style bed - Wood look bed w/ carbon steel tubing with rust/patina

Sounds like a pretty good plan. The Trepadors may be too tall depending on the rule set. 4.75 is a pretty common height requirement and IIRC they are advertised as 4.9?

Can't wait to see what you do with this build. A rot rod theme would be so cool!

Still waiting on Vanquish to get them back in stock. So far I have everything I need to start the build. Ordered a NRDRC servo tonight.

Wow the VRD Carbon is hard to find. You can try these places below. I've never dealt with any of them, but they all have phone numbers you can call to check if they are legit AND have the VRD Carbon in stock.

UPDATE:
Vanquish had them up for sale on the 16th, arrived on the 20th. So started building last weekend. Here's a few pics during the process. Still waiting on my 3D printer parts to arrive so I can print out the remaining items I need to complete it. I want to get the body painted, but don't want to paint until I can get the mounting sorted and I need my printer to make the rock sliders and mounts. Decided on a smaller 850mah 3S pack so I can mount it up front as an option with a printed battery tray. Going to go with some Proline internally sprung shocks for it once they are back in stock. Also going to try to make a tube frame bed from scratch too at some point.
