Quarry Creeper
Ok, so I'm debating a small build.... scale and price;-)
It'll be 1.9 based, but very short wheelbase. Use alot of parts I have laying around, but I want a new motor and battery to keep the weight down and fit the small build. I'll probably run an LRP runner that I have cause it's the smallest esc I have. It'll be a slow rock racer, but not a super slow crawler. Total package comparable in speed to a 55 or 65t lathe, but don't need all the torque.
Battery...
I'm thinking about going down in battery size from all of my 6cell stick packs to fit the chassis/wheelbase I want. I need to get some measurements to get the exact length, but I'm talking under 3in length in battery, and it'll be opposite side of the chassis as the motor, so motor width-ish. Basically, the battery will define the length of the chassis (battery length + space to turn the tires).
Motor...
What would my options be for small motors? It needs to mount like a conventional 540, and will have no tranny, just a spur and pinion. I'm looking for something along the lines of a 55 or 65t lathe motor, but don't need the torque, so I wondered if theres a smaller motor that'll shed the un-needed torque, and weigh less as well as be smaller. 380 maybe?
Any suggestions on motor/battery? Price is DEFINATLY an important factor... just building a fun rig, nothing to compete with. Mainly just wanna try some ideas.
EDIT: I know NOTHING about anything outside of 1/10 540 motor and 6cell stick packs.... so boat, airplane, 1/18 etc are all foreign to me.
EDIT again: ESC specs...
Voltage Input: 4-6 cells (4.8-7.2V)
Typical Voltage Drop: @20A 0.320V
Rated Current: 60A (transistors rating at 25°C junction temp.)
Rec. Motor Limit: over 18 turns
BEC 5.0V
