Smoked my first motor

First did you ever unplug the servo and test the old ESC? servos can do weird stuff when to go bad.

Using the 412 should be much easier, you wont need the castle link or to change any settings. I dont know if the 412 has motor wires pre soldered or not, but you may need to solder those on yourself and then the bullet connectors. You'll need to solder a battery connector on the Mamba X as well.

This should be a bench test BTW, i've heard the Capra is tight on space so I have a feeling both of those wont fit.

I haven’t tested the esc. Which plug is the servo? I understand where the steering servo is. Dig servo, motor , receiver , ESC but which servo how don’t do this test. You may all ready have stated it before this is all somewhat new to me thanks for the great deal of information im learning a lot by reading your guys posts

No problem, its what this place is for

Page 2 shows the receiver, the steering channel is labeled and dig has to be the aux channel. This page also shows the trims and rate adjustments, if your throttle isnt trimmed right (the centered position) the ESC wont start up, also if the rate is wrong you may be limiting the amount of throttle or steering you can use. I would check each of those for the throttle.

Your rig should more forward or backwards as you adjust trim, just set it to the middle point between them.

Ok so I believe I tested the old esc by unplugging the steering servo from the receiver. Still nothing. Hope I did the test right. On another note I think the 415 tekin with fit nicely and I believe I can squeeze the mamba in there. My only concern is the mamba x doesn’t have the little connectors for my capra light bar and head lights. And the battery wires are to short to mount it in the same place as stock esc

Last thing to ask about the old ESC did you adjust the throttle rate and trim knobs? or did you just look at them? I'd recommend turning the trim knob while the truck is on, if it starts to do the start up beeps you know the trim was off (when its off center too far the ESC wont start up). Keep in mind the knob itself isnt always perfectly centered and the true way of checking is by turning the knob, finding the point at which it moves forward and where it starts to move backward, the point between these is center.

I would also adjust the throttle rate and see what that does in terms of how fast the motor will spin. This is almost always turned all the way up so you can get full throttle unless it being driven by a kid.

If these trims and rates are off it could be the source of your problem, thats why I'm suggesting you fully test these out.

I’m installing this new tekin 412 crawlmaster and mamba x esc almost done. Can not get the solder to stick to the leads on the motor..any tips? Wondering if this mystery tube of unknown substance that was in the box with motor has anything to do with helping it stick ?

And I did retest the old esc by itself and turned the dials on the controller and no response. So I went ahead with the new goods
