Snow plows and their effectiveness

Has anyone tried any of the major brands of RC snow plow attachments? There is a RC4WD one that seems cool because it can turn, there is hot racing and other cheaper ones that seem fixed forward, and then there is the difference between plastic and metal.

My question is do ANY of these actually let you plow your driveway? Like the whole thing? Seems inevitable that you would just end up stacking too much snow for the truck to push. I like the idea of using a FPV setup to plow from inside but I wonder if it would even be reasonable. Anyone have some experience with this?

I offer 3D printed plow kits. This is just a poorly recorded video, but it shows off my plow. My kits work with SCX10, TRX4 and Ascenders.

To answer your question specifically, you can't really plow your driveway with anything more than 1 inch of snow. If it's wet snow perhaps even less. The weight of the trucks is just too low. Traction becomes the issue. You just end up ramming the snow and damaging your truck.

That being said, it's about to snow here in an hour or so. I've got the plow truck all prepped. It's fun, but you can't really plow large areas. I plow my walkway, and would need to keep doing it frequently to actually be effective.

Hope that helps!

Interesting. I didnt know that your plows were so affordable, Im gonna have to try that out. I like how you can turn it too. Uncles video is pretty crazy too, man is that thing pushing snow! Is that a bomber?

As long as it is fresh powder and its still below freezing you should be good.
But i have a hard time seeing any regular RC sized plow move wet or compacted snow.
Even on rails ( g scale ) and with 8 wheel drive ) you get bogged down with a plow, and i think even the rotational solutions meet their match too.

Is it practical? Not really.

Is is fun? Absolutely.

I usually just plow my sidewalk...it's a nice way to get the scalers out when the weather is bad.
