Those of you that might be interested ? Today I was doing a bit of research. And determined that the 12 channel Rugged+ Spectrum was on sale. I picked one up local for 258. With tax. And the 6 channel reciever. With it included. I also got a -20.00 hobby town coupon with it they honored. For that price. The box says 329.95. I was happy.
Now also with this sale you can get the orange or green (no reciever models). For 220.00 plus tax on sale. A pretty good deal.
These radios do seem a little cheap(toy like and large). But I do for the most part like the features. As I’ve got another one like it and bought a 6 channel rugged on sale a while back for 200.00 . To me they are a decent radio with lots of room for advancement. And lots of model memory.

Very interested to hear about your experiences with this radio and what you do with the channels.

I went with the FlySky G11P over the 12ch Spektrum because of the switches, or lack there of on the Spektrum radio. Being a Spektrum guy, this hurt a bit. But, the G11P has enough switches to handle the number of channels it has.

I was wanting to be able to switch headlights on and off. Use a winch. Use dig. And on a vanquish Phoenix use selectable overdrive. I have not set up anything as of yet. Being that I like spectrum I thought this was a good start. Plus the reciever with this radio came with the required number of channels in the box with the included reciever. It was a win win. If it all works!

Any update? I am currently looking at the spektrum rugged DX but cant pull the trigger. How has is held up and how many channels are you using?

I’m really liking it a lot but I’m only up to 3 channels so far. But sometime soon I’ll be into the overdrive and dig. So 2 more channels. And I’m looking into a servo winch. This is going to all be installed in my Vanquish Phoenix it’s a portal kit model. I’m also using a standard axle Phoenix with the rugged radio too. I also now have more than 1 of these radios for individual crawler vehicles.

I'm running a DX6 Rugged and also have a 5 Rugged. In short, i feel like they're too big, they feel like cheap toy grade junk, and they do not live up to the "Rugged" name. They're also behind the times with AA batteries, a small screen, and no left/right arrows for navigating menus. The only reason i run the crappy things is that hey have the best setup for winching (2 momentary switches right by your thumb).

That is my biggest annoyance with my G11P, no native momentary switches, Spektrum seems to be one of the few that does it. You can make a momentary control on the G11P, but it takes three channels to accomplish it.

I have a DX5 rugged and feel the same.
Big, I cannot even use the thumb steer on it as it is too big for my (not so small) hands, feels like cheap plastic and not rugged at all.
The black rubber "rugged" stuff is just pushed into a few slots on the edges in the casing and came loose within weeks of using it.

I also bought a cheapo 10 channel DumboRC tx/rx combo to test which cost me less than the single SR515 receiver I had to buy for the DX5 Rugged.
And the DumboRC unit actually feels more rugged than the DX5 Rugged does :ROFLMAO:
