after looking at my local hobby shop, I notice that electonics for airplanes and helicopters were cheaper than trucks etc. I was wondering why a spectrum 2.4 DSM reciever from like a DX6 would work with my DX3R system. The question being is a reciever for a DX3R is $90 for a 3 channel and a 6 channel reciever is $50 and their both from Spektrum. Will they bind and work on the ground or am I confused:oops:

The 6 channel receivers last I checked will not work with pistol grip spektrum radios...

from what I understand the Surface radio systems have alot more resolution then the air radios and thats why they don't cross bind

The pistols can only use the "surface" receivers with trucks/cars. The Spektrum website has a list of what receivers you can use with the DX3R. I would look in the for sale section here. Cheaper than brand new. That's were I have got all of mine and they all have worked great.

ground and air are not compatible but you can just use the DX6 then you have 6 channels to use.

very interesting this came up because im running air RX/TX I have no clue to resolutios but I can change frame rates. anyways, to the OP ? no, it will not bind.

Thanks to all of you for the imput, now I will sleep tonight and figure out what's cheaper (learning to run a stick or where to come up with the extra money)

If you are using this in a crawler you could probably get away with using the SR300 receivers and they are only 50 bucks.

oh and useing a air radio for a ground RC is technically illegal so only use a 2.4 ghz radio so you don't cross someones am/fm frequency.

Since 2.4 doesn't have the interference potential off AM/FM it would seem to be safe to use an aircraft Tx/Rx for the crawler. Lots of people were using the Spektrum DX6 for their crawlers.

You just can't mix an aircraft Tx with a surface Rx because they have different programming protocols.
