Can someone define what "sporty" crawlers are about? Is it just lite weight rigs? I'm curious about it, seen a lot of different rigs that say they're sporty. Thought this would be the correct section, thanks. :)

What they are refering to is the class that the crawler would compete in. In this case the sportsman class or 2.2S.

Sent from my phone using my fingers.

Technically Sportsman or "Sporty" is kind of an entry level class, or one that anyone can compete in without running against Pro spec rigs (dig, etc).

Since it is not a Nationals level class, local clubs can run it as they see fit, though there are USRCCA guidelines.

Its a good, fun class to cut your teeth in, and a refreshing class for those who have comped with Pro rigs for a long time.

Not exactly correct. A 2.2s legal truck can compete in Sportsman, but a Sportsman legal truck may not be legal in 2.2s. Sportsman is usually a local level class, and many will allow a bodiless chassis. Bodiless is not legal in 2.2s.

So 2.2s you cannot run dig? I'm confused about all these new rules. I am building a rig now, I remember there being a rule sticky, is all that info in them?

Dig is only allowed in 2.2Pro. 2.2s is shafty only, no dig, no bodiless. Sportsman originally was intended as a place for shafty drivers to go to escape from MOAs, and it kind of morphed into a kind of novice class, which is fine. Typically dig is not allowed there either.

I left Pro and went to Sportsman to learn how to drive better and quit relying on dig, and it worked. It really helped a lot.

This is why i have bought a 2.2s rig...... Improve my 2.2pro driving

Plus it gives me something to hand over so someone can drive with me too.

Its funny...you'll look at the courses in a completely different way then you did before. Not to mention watching Pro drivers and some of the horrible lines they take because they can try and dig themselves out of a bad situation.
